Is there a tutorial that I could not find on this?
Please view my signature on how to correctly disassemble your Wii. There's a step by step tutorial.

When you get to the drive chip, look for 2 cables to release the unit.

Most Important:To install the clip, take it with both hands and GENTLY with NO DOWNWARD PRESSURE and fit it onto the Wii drive chip...move it gently forwards and backwards..left and right till you feel that ti is fitted correctly...(if unsure...repeat...this precedure..you Will get a better feel about it if you practice a few times)...Once you know the chip is in hte correct position...swing your thumb ovet the clip and slowly but evenly press the clip onto the wii drive chip.PRESTO!! Installed !!!

Note: if this procedure is not done properly....it may damage the edges of the wii-clip which you will need to fix....

Also if the clip is damaged in this way due to installation error...the warranty will be voided and not covered by almost any mod device store will not warranty

In the clip pack comes a small piece of cardboard, do not discard that.

The center punches out and it fits around the black square / clip harness. This will prevent modchip metal to Wii internal metal contact.

The drive will rip at about 1,500kb per hour. This is a very minimal strain on the network.

I'd have to say about $50.

Update - Turns out, my Wii is a version 3.3U even though I purchased it yesterday from a new shipment. Anyways, does that probably mean that I will have a drive that still has a drive controller and is non-epoxy'd, therefore meaning I do not have to purchase a drive and can just pop the D29Pro on?

Sounds like you might have the same WII as me. I have 3.3U new right from the store. I have not done any mods yet. Did you ever find out if your controller has epoxy or missing?

Still need to get the two screwdrivers, it seems that you need to special order them however.

    wiidrives.com, search the serial number.

this is not an exact science though. it'll give you an idea of what you might have.

DVD drive: D2E and later - Black glue

Looks like I have the D2E with the black glue.
How hard is it to remove the glue? Should I remove the glue or get a new drive?

from what I've seen, it looks awfully rough to do.

I'd buy a new one and sell the current on eBay.
