(not a) Semi-Bricked Black Screen Neogama R8 B7 - Will not play GENUINE SSBB

    Hey guys,

    Firmware: 4.3u
Mod: Old WiiKey hard mod PLUS Softmod installed 1 year ago or so
Games: Some backups and some genuine games work, SSBB Genuine will not.
Neogama R8b7 gives a black screen (I made mistake of upgrading to 4.3u)

We just bought SSBB from gamestop (used copy) and it will not load on our wii. I was already aware that Neogama went to black screens but since some of our games still worked fine playing straight from the Wii, we figured SSBB would work. When I try to load it, it gives me the question mark saying it does not recognize the disc (or something).

Last question: If this can be fixed, can I keep the Netflix channel?

    Thanks!

    You don't have a semi-brick....

There is a list of problematic games in my signature you can look at. Before you do that though please post in the introsection here.

Thank you. So what I am understanding is that I will need a later revision of the cios to play double layer games. Problem is, to get it installed, I need the homebrew channel. Another problem is, with 4.3u, you can't get homebrew installed except with SSBB (which doesnt work) or Indiana Jones game?

Just curious, is there a way to do this without the Indiana Jones game or is that my only hope?

    Thanks for your help

It doesn't play through the Nintendo disk channel?

Correct, a genuine SSBB will not play through Wii's original channel. Certain other games work (backups or originals) but not all.

I can't find the article I was looking for. I do know that there was an issue with SSBB and some Wiis. It all had to do with the fact of SSBB being a dual layer disk. I really don't know of a solution. You could try to get a copy of Indiana Jones to softmod but I can't say for sure that would help. I doubt it but stranger things have happened.

You said its used right? they have this machine they use to grind the scratches off of the disc and if they use it too much it will remove data(theres also stations at Hastings that will do this, they messed up my disc pretty bad the machine went haywire and by the time the scratches the machine made were gone this happened to my disc). Return it to Gamestop and try another copy and see if it works.
