Partitioning and Formatting Seagate Free Agent Go 500GB

I have a Seagate Free Agent Go 500GB (which is on the list), and I was was wondering how much to partition and to what format. I have been following this guide:
    http://www.wiihacks.com/recommended-...tmod-only.html

It mentions 3 types of formats: Fat32, WBFS, and NTFS. What do exactly does all three formats do?

Also I'm on a mac so when partitioning the HDD do I make it "free space" for partitioning the WBFS partition?

Thanks so much for your help!

    Thanks for the fast response.
So USB loader GX can load Fat 32? Will it still show the covers for it?
