Active Life Explorer required Wii Update, now USB Loader GX won't work.

A few months ago I spent about 8 hours reading through all the tutorials to hack my Wii with 4.3 and install Homebrew and USB Loader GX.

It was a tedious process, but I was able to get to the point that I had everything working, and I had all of our games backed up on a USB drive and working.

I really like having this option because my 5 and 7 year old boys are very rough with cd/dvd discs and these games are very expensive.

Today we bought Active Life: Explorer. I took a nap, and woke up to find out that the game didn't work and my wife installed an update on the Wii to get the new game to work. She said Wii wouldn't even open the disc so she tried an update and apparently that worked.

I checked the system out, so far everything with the Wii works fine except I can no longer get the USB Loader GX to load. I suspect I need to run the hack again to fix the IOS to use USB Loader GX again, but I want to confirm before I do this whether there are any known issues with new games not running on an older IOS. I don't want to get caught in a loop of hacking the console to play games on USB Loader GX and then having to run the update to play Active Life: Explorer or other new games.

    Key questions:
Is this a known issue that new(er) games may require an update to work?

What is the workaround so that you can run an IOS that allows Homebrew/USB Loader GX to work but will also run the new games?

I did a search on both Google and in this forum for new games/Active Life:Explorer requiring an update, but as with all searches, the key to getting results is the search terms. The ones I tried yielded no results for my question. I apologize in advance if this is actually a common topic here.

Thanks in advance for any replies.

You should post a syscheck so we can tell what was removed and/or added.
Heres how to post one http://www.wiihacks.com/recommended-...tem-check.html

I'm guessing that the update removed/stubbed your cIOS's. You will have to softmod over again if that is the case. It wouldn't hurt either as it sounds like you didn't have Priiloader installed which is a requirement in most of our guides (blocks online ans disk updates). Follow the 4.3 softmod guide in my signature. If you still have the Homebrew Channel you can start with Chapter 2 but if you didn't make a NAND backup your first time around then start with Chapter 1 and make a backup now.

also: a system update is never needed to run new games. If you have an issue with a game through the normal disk channel then follow this guide. If you have an issue with a game from you USB drive then look at the problematic games in my signature.

    Thank you for the replies.

I went into settings and the Wii is currently showing v4.3U.

Its been awhile since I did the load, and for me it was a one time deal so I forgot a lot of what I did and will have to review the procedures to provide the data for the system check. I remember there being a lot of specifics in regard to what order things were done in, so I don't want to attempt anything from memory.

I did a NAND backup before I removed the stub IOSs, but did not do a NAND backup after I had everything working.

The Homebrew Channel does still load, but without a procedure in front of me I did not attempt to reload the USB Loader GX. I did attempt to launch BootMii and the Wii reset without launching it.

I will review the links provided, provide a system check, follow the linked procedures, and get back to you if I have any issues. This may take a few days, so don't take a delay posting this info as a sign that I'm ignoring the help or going elsewhere.

    Thanks again,
    Sam

Theres not a need to link anything. Just follow the 4.3 Softmod Guide found in my signature starting with Chapter 2.

I've got a similar problem with my Active Life Explorer.

    See my post here http://www.wiihacks.com/other-faq-gu...tml#post583950

While waiting for a never to appear answer, I did try to download a iso of the same game (I wanted to verify if it was my disc that was a problem, or the game itself) and the iso I found, has the exact same symptom. When loading the game, I get first the Nintendo White screen (Don't throw the remote) and then the Namco/Bandai Logo screen after that, and then stuck on that.

I'm using the GX loader, and I have all the update stuff turned off. I'm assuming that this is what is causing the problem.

So, any ideas on what I should do next to get this to work? The linked post above has my current Syscheck in it.
