Help needed on a friends Wii

My buddy paid some guy to hack his wii for him. well it didnt turn out good. When he went into usbloader gx it would code dump and say restarting in 5seconds. so he deleted usbloadergx and tried reinstalling it. well he must have deleted something else because it got stuck at the preloader screen and nothing he could do would work to get it to load the wii os. I played with it and got it to boot into wii operating system. he has all his channels and homebrew except usbloader. i tries installing the wad from the wad manager but kept getting errors. My question is this. How do i basically wipe his wii and start over using a method i know to work. I do not know what that guy who hacked his wii did or what isos he installed or anything. everything seems to be working except being able to load his hard drive. i dont want to go in and just load isos because i dont know what he has already done to the wii. Any help would be appreciated.
His wii is at 4.1 he has homebrew loaded and preloader other then that i do not know what else.

might not be a bad idea to load dop-mii and post a syscheck.

And you better go post in the Introduce Yourself section before a mod gets to you...lol

if wad manager is at 1.5 try updating wad manager to 1.7, u need to rename the boot file to boot.dol and replace the dol file u have on your sd card in apps> wad manager
download syscheck and place it in app folder
    open hbc and run it
if u can do that post your syscheck

Just follow the syscheck instructions in my signature. Use the sysCheck app in the guide too, since it will give much more info than Dop-Mii.

ROFL, it looks like your friend paid a guy to follow a guide on this site! Take a look at IOS36 and IOS16. Mauifrog is the only one who makes the revision numbers 54321. It seems he decided to skip a few steps though. Lazy bum. I never charge people to hack Wii's.
It's not looking too bad, although there are some stubs. You DO NOT want to remove hacks first (aka virginize), because that is unnecessary and is a good way to brick. Follow the Softmod ANY Wii guide in my signature. Don't skip any steps except the optional ones.
