Help! Softmod PAL Wii without PAL games :-(

First of all I would like to introduce myself as this is my first post here. I am from Italy and I moved to the U.S. a couple of years ago. I am a big Nintendo fan and I currently own a PAL Wii, a NDS, a Nintendo 64, Super Nintendo, Game Boy, Game Boy Advance and many many games ;)
This is my problem. When I moved to the U.S., I brought with me my beloved Wii PAL from Italy. Yesterday I finally purchased a plasma TV and I was so glad to play with my Wii again. But I also wanted to use the Wii to watch Netflix, as I am a subscriber of their great streaming service. I read that they had a Wii channel which can be used to stream movies on my TV. I searched for it, but I did not find it...because my Wii is set on the EU store and it does not contain the Netflix channel :(
I searched on the 'net (:confused:) and I found instructions on how to softmod the Wii and change the country and shop settings but...:mad:...it seems like that in order to do this, you need a game (Lego Indiana Jones). At the beginning I thought "no problem, I'll rent it from Blockbuster" but then I realized "ouch, it will be NTSC and my PAL Wii will not play it".
So here is the one million dollar question: is there any way I can softmod my PAL Wii from here (U.S.) where I don't have access to PAL games? Keep in mind that my only goal is to install the Netflix channel...I am not interested in using downloaded games.
