Original/retail, right? I've noticed that if the disc has signs of heavy usage (read: not pristine surface; had a scratchy as hell Cooking Mama that took FOREVER to rip).

Some of the USB Loader GX versions featured buggy disc rippers (more the later than earlier revisions). You could try a different version, or another loader that features disc rip support.

i was having probs with the usb loader, previously aswell. i was trying to update neo gamma r8 - r9 but it failed and ended up deleting my usb loader and priiloader, along with all the ios and wad so i had to download new usb loader, had trouble installing it but i finally got it installed. but im not sure whether its installed properly because it wont let me add a game via the plus button down the bottom left of usb loader. i have to take disc out then reinsert while in usb loader to add game to hdd

IDK, part of that whole exchange sounds like you ended up accepting an update (whether disc or online) to me. My particular version (older) of USB Loader GX, I don't even have to press "+," it auto-prompts for USB install.

I have had a few games rip super slow as well, sometimes the rip fails. The + button has never worked for me either, it does autoprompt to rip the disc when I insert it though. I use rev 938. It does have a few bugs in it (there I said it ), but it is still my preferred loader.
