    Question What is CIOS?

    Hi,

What is CIOS? Also, do you use it to send the ISOs through Wifi?

I'm getting really confused about all the different programs which needed to send the ISO. Do I just need CIOS and the Wii ISO Dumper made by the same people? Thanks to all who help me. I will "thanks" anyone who gives a good answer

@_@ wow i neveer saw a simpler searched, and confused post =x

a Cios is a custom IOS, which relies on the IOS slots not used, there are like 256 in all, and a lot of open spots, the Custom IOS, is used to make programs work better, and mimic firmware, since 3.2 is seen as the best for obvious reasons, its a way to get the perks of the higher firmware, and use the newer games, programs like Megaman 9, and many other wiiware games, along with getting programs like Wiigators backup loader to work

as for IOS's and Cios's if you have a modchip
    Cios 37 rev 2 or 3
    Shop channel, and ios 50
    IOS 38
    IOS 53
    IOS 55
are all you need to run almost/everything, thats all that i have, and i have had no issues as of yet *i did have one with illevlo wii, but removing my GC controller fixed it xD*
if you just keep posting, and downloading games, and looking around youll find everything needed, Error 002 is caused by force booting, a wii game, with a require IOS that is 100% needed to run it, if you get that, that means you have a issue, also if u boot it in disc channel and get black + frozen screen, odds are you need a IOS

you can use a dumper, but usually someone has allready released what is needed, and its better to use, something from someone whom knows what their doing than someone just trying to get it working

    Ok,,,,

I'm still really confused now....I thought CIOS was a program....What's an IOS? SO you need to install the "ISOs" to run homebrew or something?

All in all, I'm just trying to find a way to backup Wii Games and I thought that WIFI was the easiest option, any info? I guess I'm incredinoob....lol

Thanks tho for ur answer! I'll keep looking around as well, this Gecko SD thing looks gd and cheap as well. But they only hav up to 2 GB, can you backup some data then put it onto ur computer and go back to get the rest or something?

    Cheers!

you need Cios 37, to use that if i recall *dont dump, because i keep good care of what i own*

IOS's are what the wii runs on, their simple files that tell the wii what to do, how to load etc, they all do things, somethings are big like i think 34 is the system menu, some are small 256 i think or the last one, blocks patchmii, overall their just simple files you install on your wii, via wad manager

Okay to ask some more simple questions:

Is cios 37 a custom version of a IOS 37?

If (for some reason) nitendo wants to upgrade the system menu, say it's IOS 34, do they release a new version of IOS34 of does it become a new number?

Oh another simple question: is it possible to install this entire list without homebrew/wad manager/etc? Can't I just build my own iso on my pc, burn it and install those?

But why can't they just also dump the update from a nitendo game and put it on the ISO?

    they do do that....
but the update is also part of a Update with firmware
    if they DO THAT
its a .wad file called a IOS
like IOS 38, is stolen from Animal crossing, and requires wad manager to install it

using a disc, to put a 1 mb file on your wii, is pushing it, so its easier, and more pratical this way, also its easier xD

Yeah obv I understand, I'll be installing the HBC etc this weekend; I just want to learn how it works. It'd be nice for noobs to have one ISO (okay it's only 15mb or whatever) which only installs the necessary IOS to play backups.
