bootmii won't create a key.bin when backing up nand

hey guys... I have 4.3u wii softmodded with the ssbb game exploit,
everything is working good, I have bootmii as a boot2,priiloader installed to prevent any updates, the only issue I have is that when I use bootmii to make a backup of the nand is not creating the key.bin file, I tried 4 or 5 times and I always end up with just the nand.bin file, That I missed something? do I need something else?
also in case of a brick would the nand alone be enough to restore my wii?
    Thanks guys.

I used the 2gb patriot sl, I haven't had any problems with anything so far,
I also tried a generic brand to see if that was the problem, I had the same result,
    just the nand.bin file.
in case of a brick can I restore my wii with just the nand file?

I think that key.bin is just as important. It might be that you are using an incompatible SD card for bootmii. I suggest you buy a 2GB Nintendo SD card for about $10. They are 100% compatible and you can find them at most places that sell video games.

Just because an SD card works with some/most homebrew, that doesn't mean it will work with everything.

Well, the keys.bin file isnt important because its append at the end of the nan.bind file. You can try restore the NAND and you will see that you dont need the keys.bin file.More: any keys.bin from your console is correct because is always the same.

    Greetings.

hey guys, sorry it took so long to update, I just now got my nintendo wii sd card, first thing I did was to make a back up of my nand file to see if I would a backup of my key file as well, even with the sandisk for wii sd card I still didn't get a key.bin file, just the nand.bin, could it be something to this one console? when bootmii starts making a backup of the nand file it does say saved keys for conlose#~~ but when is done all I get is the nand file.
    thanks for the help guys.
PS my wii is working great...so far, so I really and to get all the files needed in case of any problems.

Are you using the latest version of bootmii? The (really) old ones didn't make a seperate keys.bin file. Run Hackmii Installer.zip from the HBC and reinstall bootmii.

You can verify that the keys were appended to the nand.bin by opening it with WiiNand v0.2. Just load your nand.bin and click on the keys tab to make sure your keys are included. If you see them there, I wouldn't worry too much about not having a separate keys.bin file.

finally I had some time to try it, when I open my nand file with wiiNand and click the keys tab it does have the keys there, so I guess I won't worry too much about it, I was wondering the wiiNand has the extract keys.bin option, should I use it and try to extract the keys.bin or just leave it?
    thanks guys.
