Is my Wii setup correctly to play backup games? Worried its Wrong!

    Hi,

My friend has given me his Wii, he says it is all ready to play backup games.

On my channels list on my Wii there are 2 channels called :-
    - Homebrew Network
    - Backup Launcher 0.3g *

He said there is software for the PC i need is called: -
    - Generic Wii Patcher
    - Wii Scrubber
    - Wii BrickBlocker

Not sure what versions etc. Im just quoting from the instructions he has given me.

    My questions are,

    1. Is this still the correct way of doing things?
    2. Is the software used right? Any links to latest versions?
    3. Are there any guides to show me how to do this, he mentioned 002 errors?
    4. Is there a site that has a list of games to let you know if they work or have any 002 or encryption?

Any help or pointers would be great as i dont know where to start and if i have the correct setup.

He has given me a couple of copied games and the work fine, but just want to know how to go about it myself.

I am just really confused that I might be behind in technology and latest versions here, as i dont want to put a game in my wii and brake it. If anyone could point me to guides of how to upgrade and get my wii up-to-date would be great.

I just want it like how most of you guys have yours set up. My current way is using DVD media and loading through the backup launcher?

    Merry Christmas! :-)

    Thanks
    Paul

Well, your back-up loaders are a bit outdated, but that is no problem at all. Just use the softmod any wii guide from my signature and you will be completely up to date.

It depends on the version of your system menu. You can see the version number in the setting screen, top right if I remember correctly (e.g. 4.1U). If your wii has a system menu version between 2.0 and 3.0, I recommend the Twillight hack. If it is between 3.0 and 4.1, I recommend bannerbomb v1. If your wii is 4.2, I recommend bannerbomb v2 (because v1 doesn't work). If your wii is 4.3E, it depends on the region you are in.

Using this guide will enable you to play both NTSC and PAL games. Whether your current softmod allows it, is something I do not know. However, I do know that it is terribly outdated.

Cheers for the reply, my wii is version 3.2E. So ill need the bannerbomb v1?

Will i need to remove the previously installed channels from my wii before proceeding?

Is the guide intended for USB Loading only? Or once completed is it used for DVD boot loading from the menu?

Does the guide cover that Neogamme channel - just confused over it all, probably sounds so simple to you guys.

Do any games need additional patches or anything?

Just a few questions i need answering if anyone can:-

    1) When you have a backed up game, ie from download or whatever, how do you know it will play, do you need to use anything else to remove encryption? I have seen people mention 002 error, scrubbed etc? Will this need to be done?
    2) Do different games need to be run with different loaders?
    3) I have read people on about changing their IOS to 222 for certain games and updating their cios?? I dont understand this? Will this guide cover all this and not need to do it?
    4) Please edit this line if its against rules : All the games i can find are in spanish, and cant find no new games, any help?
    5) What type of memory card will i need for my wii, and reccommendations make/size thats reliable? And a good reliable external HD for my games?

Just confused about the game side of things really, like knowing that they are ok to play and reliable source??

    Cheers
