    Old softmod, everything "working"...should I re-softmod cleanly?

I know what you're going to say! You're going to say "no way, if it's working, don't mess with it!" And believe me, that's what's stopped me from trying to re-softmod more "cleanly".

I've been searching around and kind of don't know what to search for, since I've got some specific questions and some general ones. I appreciate any guidance you dudes might have.

Background - I've got an older Wii that still runs DVDs, and I'm on some ridiculously low system version like 3.2U. I did the Twilight Hack a couple years back, and have USBLoader GX running on my system. I've got Priiloader 0.4, and I think *something* somewhere along the way (Priiloader?) installed BootMii as an IOS.

I wanted to install the hacks for Priiloader to block system updates, etc. But the hacks.ini file I got doesn't load, since, I'm assuming, the hacks are for a different menu version (that's the message I get, something like "can't find hacks for system menu 343").

Meanwhile, I can't get to HBC from Priiloader because it says the target can't be found or might not be installed. So I go to the System Menu, then to HBC from there, and it works fine.

So, all this kind of got me thinking about whether I *should* update my system through DOP-Mii or something. Then, of course, I read all this rad stuff about using BootMii as boot2.

It also got me thinking about whether softmodding "back in the day" was just a little sloppier of a process, and if now I've got unnecessary stuff on my SD/Wii. I wonder if I should do one of those guides to return my Wii to virgin factory settings and re-softmod. Is that completely stupid to do?

Again, I appreciate all the input you guys can offer. I realize I dumped a lot of info at you guys, especially for a system that is technically WORKING already. I just wonder if I could be running the whole process more efficiently both in my Wii and on my SD card.

    Thanks!

Thanks robgee789...I had read in all the individual apps' install instructions that they'd "just install over" the old stuff, but I got nervous since my system menu's so old.

yo Rob - one more question...when I follow this guide, will I lose all my random and obscure iOSes that I'd installed for particular games?

You won't lose anything unless you uninstall it

Never uninstall any IOS under 200

Cool guys. I just get so nervous when it's an easy answer like "just redo the guide!"

On a similar topic, I read that guide and holy crap, how easy is it now? I remember what it was like when I first Twilight-Hacked and installed everything. Now, you basically bannerbomb and go make yourself a Hot Pocket while your Wii hacks itself and takes over the world.
