Already have Homebrew - update to 4.3

    Hello,

Over the summer I hacked my Wii using the Bannerbomb hack. Everything works fine, I just wanted to update my Wii to the latest version.

Is this possible, and what do I need to do?

I'm sorry if a similar post is in the forum, I just feel like no one is in quite the same situation that I am and I don't want anything to go wrong and end up with a brick Wii.

    Thank you for any help!

there is no need to update to 4.3...

games are not system menu depended and you can update shop channel manually...

Ok, so the whole reason I asked is because I have a Netflix account, and you can't use the disc anymore.
You need to get the channel, but when I went to get it it says I need to update the system.

How do I do it manually then?

    Ok thanks!

I am going to give this a try soon. I was just really nervous I wouldn't be able to get on the Shop channel anymore because of the update.

Games don't work.. Need to update?

    Hey guys,

In august I softmodded my parents wii- all games have worked until recently. There are a few games that they have purchased (i havent been around to DL them and add them up) that they want to play normally (not through homebrew) and when they go to click the game it says they need to update to 4.3. i'm not sure why this is. the games they are trying to play specifically are "wii party" and "just dance 2." i know that all games should work with 4.2 and that the shop channel needs an update but im confused as to why they are being requested to update?

looking forward to hearing from you!

    1. Don't download games if you don't own them. It is illegal, immoral, and not supported by WiiHacks.
    2. Don't hijack threads.
    3. If you followed a guide on this site, you would have blocked updates with Priiloader. Do that now.
    4. Games use IOS's to run, not the System Menu. Use the update guide in my sig. I suggest the Update Game IOS.zip pack, since you already have 4.2.
    5. You can update the Shopping Channel manually. Cile gave a link for that above.

    Wow I'm retarded

For some reason the Priiloader config I set up for the rents last year is not active currently. I went back into priiloader- enabled the disk stuff, and it works. STUPID ME!

    Hi All

Sorry if this is covered in another thread but I have searched and don't seem to be able to find anything specific.

I need to make sure that the "Do not upodate discs" item is enabled.

When I installed the Homebrew Channel earlier this year it showed several banners that allowed you to access certain areas / applications including priiloader. I am sure that I installed priiloader as per Messie's guide but when I have gone into the HBC now it tells me that an update of the HBC is available.

I have declined to update as everything seemed to be working fine but after this message I only seem to get the HBC background screen. None of the banners are visible.

Do I have to update HBC?

Do I have to have the SD Card with the relevant "Apps" & "Wad" folders in the Wii when I try to operate the HBC to be able to see all of these banners?

I have tried to load priiloader by holding down the reset button whilst I power up the Wii as per other instructions on this site but nothing happens. It just goes straight to the System Menu.

Is there any other way that I can check whether priiloader is installed on my Wii?

If I do have to update the HBC, is there a "Janet & John" guide on how to do this in the forums somewhere which includes how to replace any IOS's if required.

Thanks to anyone who is able to help.

You really shouldn't have hijacked this thread, but I will go ahead and help you anyway.

Make sure you have IOS58 installed first.

Yes, all of the apps are located on your SD card. They aren't installed to your Wii.
I have tried to load priiloader by holding down the reset button whilst I power up the Wii as per other instructions on this site but nothing happens. It just goes straight to the System Menu.
If you have updated your System Menu since you installed Priiloader, then it was erased.

Extract Custom Hackmii.zip to the root of your SD card. It contains the latest hackmii installer (HBC+bootmii) and magic word, which will allow you to load Priiloader from the HBC (if you have it).
If I do have to update the HBC, is there a "Janet & John" guide on how to do this in the forums somewhere which includes how to replace any IOS's if required.
I suggest you just follow the Softmod ANY Wii guide in my signature. Don't skip any steps. It will update/install just about everything you need. Updating the HBC and installing IOS58 are part of the process.
