    Can Game Updates Brick?

Hi. I looked around for 10 minutes trying to find what section to post this question in, and I hope I picked a decent section.

Im having a question. I have successfully softmoded my Wii 4.2E and It's running a few backup games I've made, without problems.

I'd like to ask one question tho. I've heard there are games that do want to update when you are launching them? Is that right? (I do not own any games that update themselves, yet)

So, how do you handle these game updates? Is it a big NO NO to update from the game or is it totally safe? Cause I remember that I've been told to not do any updates from my Wii.

    Thanks in advance!

It is not safe to update from game disk the game update will brick your wii or your softmode
if you want to prevent this install Priiloader go to this guide and enable disk and online update
    4.2 E , BootMii (boot2 as IOS) , DVDx . HBC 1.0.8 , cIOS 38 r14 , Hermes cIOS 222 v4 , Priiloader 0.3 , WiiFlow 2.1a2 , Mplayer CE 0.75 , WiiMc 1.1.0

Well, it won't brick it for sure, but you are right about it not being very safe. It should be avoided except for some extreme situations, like if your System Menu was corrupted. Even then, there are usually safer alternatives.

@OP Go ahead and install Priiloader with link that cracra posted. After that, take a look at a list of other "big No-No's."

No game will automatically update your system. It will offer an update for you to accept. Like cracra pointed out you can easily have Priiloader block updates and you could also scrub the update from the game when you rip your backup. You will probably have to keep your IOS up to date manually if you use Priiloader to block disc updates and still want to play retail discs through the disc channel.
