    Backup Channel and Firmware

I just installed the Backup Channel, I haven't made any backups yet. I've looked around and read that some games require you to update to play them. The firmware on my US Wii is 3.0, I think, all I know is that it is the firmware before the update that stops the use of Datel's Freeloader disc. I know 3.4 is the latest fw, so if I happen to start up a backup of a game that requires me to update, will it screw up all my Homebrew channels and keep me from playing backups?

I'm still pretty new to the scene (and this forum), but are there any channels I should look into that are important to have. I don't think I need the WAD Installer channel now that I have the HBC.

ok youre wrong on a few things

    best firmware is 3.2
freeloader disc is block at 3.3v2 but you can use gecko OS via HBC
you can patch the update, some game have updates needed but they get posted if you read, and spend 5 mins searching, it doesnt affect homebrew outside of patching wad isntaller and stuff, there are work arounds be their a hassle

no channel are really needed, esp since most of them are quite outdated next to the currents

as for backup loader, reguardless of what update is needed, its a crap program which will never be a perfect program, or even a good program... if you look for the list of "working games" most of them can only get so far in the game, and can only do so much, ive never heard of a backup working 100% though the loader, i could be wrong but ive never heard it =\ in addition nintendo can always patch it, and it isnt that hard to stop, the discs might have new updates and such, to prevent it, in the end if you want to play back ups buy a modchip from modderman, or spyman of canada mods, if you just want to be cheap, and have a lot of free time, dont mind being hassled with a lot, and use something with almost no support, because EVERYONE who posts and is really active/helpful are not using the loader outside of maybe chris... but thats not enough to expect good support, since a LOT isnt known, and its just bad period

Thanks for the reply, I'll look into all that.

I should've specified the freeloader disc, it was a Gamecube freeloader disc and I'm positive that my FW isn't 3.3 cuz I haven't updated my Wii for over a year. I remember they added a clock to the main menu.

the thing that the disc used, was patched, in 3.3v2 so you can go up to 3.2 *the different V's get confusing* but i hope u find what youre looking for
