Here's a thread that lists games and the ios's they use
Thanks a lot for your help us3rname! So when looking at that thread i see

Super Mario Galaxy 2...................IOS56-64-v5405............System Menu 4.2

    And i followed this tutorial (http://www.wiihacks.com/recommended-...d-any-wii.html) and as far as I recall I only installed;

    IOS38-64-v3867
    IOS50-64-v4889
    IOS53-64-v5406
    IOS55-64-v5406
    Neogamma Channel - R8
Technically the Mario Bros Galaxy 2 wont work as it needs IOS56-64-v5405?? So id have to get that iOS and install it using the wadManager am I correct on this? But thats again only if im running it through the disc? If im using USB Loader and run from ex-HD i dont need the iOS I would be set?

Thank you again, you've been a great help!

Yes that's correct. Backups loaded from a backup loader use cIOS. Originals from the disc channel use IOS (or a higher version) and you would need that IOS present on the wii to run it that way.

*Never uninstall/delete IOS -- Never Instal a stub IOS*
    Damn I suck!!!!

Ah alright thanks for the reply! So basically running a game from the hdd has all the pros pretty much. So just to clarify again I dont need to download any kinds of cIOS?

Since you dont even need to load any other iOS's. Still quite interesting how the Wii works compared to the 360 as thats what i have and have been modding since the xbox1 days.

Sweet well that's what I did install when I followed that guide! So you can only have 1 cIOS loaded onto the machine at once? While you can load all the IOSs if you wanted?

but there are different ios slots (ex. 36, 56, 60) there are more than just these
so you can have more than one cIOS installed
Waninkoko's cIOS is installed in slots 249 and 250 (the newer revisions can be installed in a slot you choose)( but just stay at rev17 until a newer revision is released and suggested by wiihacks)
hermes cIOS has cIOS's that can be installed to slot 202,222,223,224
they do not "get in each others way" since they're in different slots, so it's fine if you have more than one installed

Oh alright! So i installed cIOS 249 (which is good) but in order to run Mario Galaxy 2 id need to load iOS 56 (i can just download and load using wad Manager).. I believe im on the right track here!

No need to touch cIOS unless 249 gets updated.. Correct me if im wrong.

Basically every game requires certain iOS's to run (so i can just load those if needed).. while cIOS is the base that is used to load the USB drivers etc or whatever else the Wii needs to use.

if you need a ios, you can install it with wad manager, or you can install it with dop mii...either one. If you know how to install it with wad manager, just use that
games only use ios's to run if you're not running it from a usb loader (ex. I deleted ios53, which new super mario bros wii runs on, and it still played from usb)
once modded, the wii doesn't use the cios for everything (some homebrew use ios58 for usb2 support since it's an official ios)
the cIOS's are mainly for usb loaders and some homebrew apps (wiiXplorer uses cios202 for better usb support, priiloader may need to be installed with a cIOS)

you're fine just leave cIOS249 alone for now

yup, you just might have to get a certain cIOS if a game (from usb) is giving you problems
