Okay thanks Krank.
I can clearly see that Priiloader is good to have for brick protection at the least.
I will look into doing this for sure.
One question though, I presume any WAD channels and saves/Mii's will be erased???
Saves /Mii's are easy enough to backup, i.e. savegame manager GX, for example, but channels will be wiped I guess...although I can just re-add these using WAD Manager.
If you follow the softmod guide? No you will not lose any of your channels/mii's/saves.

Well, yes probably....but I recommend this guide as it has some useful "extras".
What "extra's" are you specifically referring to? Do you mean things like autoboot, to automatically boot into USB loaders etc?
Also, the problem of jumpy cursor came back for no reason I know of. Weird this.
HBC won't load again, and gives me the same DSI Exception screen as shown at the start of this post.
Hopefully a full re-hack will solve this odd behaviour. What is your opinion on this?
Thanks for your help.
By extras I mean things that you won't notice are there but can help you if in certain situations. I don't know what you mean by a jumpy cursor....mine does this too and is caused by light interference (from what I can tell).
Not sure if it will help your issue to re-mod.
If you read my first post it explains the situation....it's not light interference...definitely not.
It happens in HBC or any HB app, e.g. GX Loader, Load Mii etc. The cursor jumps around very unsteadily and the Wii remote become very unresponsive. Painfully slow, even unusable!
Anyway, I just found out what was causing it - a nunchuck of all things. It was a cheap one from eBay so definitely explains it. Don't know why it would cause HBC to crash though, but it does.
I've eliminated all other possible causes (hardware ones) and it is most certainly this cheap nunchuck. Anyway, so problem solved on that front.
I've learned a lot though and I'm going to re-mod my Wii soon for fun!
