    Problem with the hackmii_installer (DVDX)

Where would I find info about having issues with the hackmii_installer? I downloaded the links yesterday to make my wii a dvd player from the tutorial regarding the mplayer_ce. It doesn't show up on the hbc for me to load hence my mplayer_ce won't recognize the dvds when I put them in. Can anyone help me? I am running v4.1u. Thanks.

Later versions of the hackmii installer do not have the option to install DVDX anymore, because later versions of the homebrew channel include the functionality provided by DVDX. Therefore, there is no longer a need for DVDX to be installed.
You could try installing the latest version of the homebrew channel and using the lastest version of MPlayer CE. That will probably solve the problem.

You can also use WiiMC, the best media player in my opinion.

Also keep in mind that newer Wii disc drives don't support DVD playback or game disc backups. I would be willing to bet this is your problem. Check the drive chip data base here - Drive Chip Data Base for your drive type. If it's a GC2-D3 or D4 then it doesn't support this type of media.

You are absolutely right. I have GC2-D3. So I cannot play game backups on disk? or all game backups even off of hard drive?

Another question. The hackmii installer modified my bootmii. Now it won't launch. Which tutorial should I follow to restore this. Thanks again.

Unfortunately you can't play game backups from disc however you can from USB.
