Homebrew Apps - Black Screen. Everything Crashes

Hi everyone. I am having a problem with my 4.1U Wii, and it just started all of a sudden and for no reason that I can figure out.

I have 4.1u console, it is one of the old Wii. I got it about 1 year after Wii was released.

So I have had it modded for years. I recently did an upgrade following the guide here to bring it more up to date, and that went great. That was 2 months ago.

As of yesterday just playing backups and all is smooth.

I didn't do anything except install usbloader.

Now all of a sudden today when I go into homebrew channel and try to execute ANYTHING....whether it is wad manager or anything else my Wii just goes to a black screen and the wiimote shuts off. I have to physically unplug the power from the Wii to get it to turn off.

I tried to use boot.elf to remove HBC and reinstall it, but when it pops up and says "load boot.elf" it goes to "if you paid you got ripped off" and then my screen goes black and nothing happens. But this time the Wiimote doesn't shut off. I still have to pull the power cord though.

I am wondering what I can do. I can't even revert my Wii to a virgin and start over because NOTHING will load from HBC. So I am in an awkward position. I read a bunch of posts here but they all say to delete this, delete that, but HBC won't even load an app!

I am wondering if maybe my SD card has gone bad? Could that cause these kinds of problems? It is a Sandisk 2gb and it has always worked for years now. Just used it yesterday to install usbloader from HBC. Now no matter what I do nothing will load there.

Any other tips or ideas are appreciated. Thanks

    Chris

Thanks Krank. I fell dumb now, but I should have mentioned that I tried that and I get a black screen while trying to load it.

Also. Everything else works flawlessly on the Wii. I can play backups and all that with no problem. It is just if I want to do anything using HBC or to load a boot.elf/dol from the SD that I have issues.

Did you try the alternate packs included in the guide? (replacing the private folder on your SD). It should load....can you start HBC at all? If so press home and launch bootmii.... MMM should start.

Thanks a lot. That worked and I was able to get HBC working again. I appreciate your help.
