    Black screen WII brick

    Hi,
my friend gave me a WII to try and unbrick it.
the problem is that the WII is NTSC-J and he used a US update (see next few line to know how i found out).
googling a lot to find a solution I came across the SaveMii and SaveMiiFrii (using a GC controller) - SaveMiis are not available so... SaveMiiFrii!
it works, I get a message "3.2(Usa)" - well... no I see the problem.

so, i've tried many things to un brick the WII but always fail (either i'm doing something worng, or it just can't be unbricked).

the last thing i'm gonna try (just need the ****** to finish downloading), is inserting an autoboot disc of Wario Land Shake it! (has 3.3 fw) - NTSC-J of course. if that fails... i'm lost.

BTW: I don't know what mod chip is there on the WII - how can I find out?

    please help!

for savemii to work it MUST be higher firmware than whats currently on there, if it had 3.2 it needs 3.3 for it to work, to save you time, wii update manager should have 3.3+ on it and that lets you swap firmwares, last time i used it it was up to 3.2 so it might/should have 3.3 if not wario is a good try, it will work, if not you can keep trying newer updates up to 3.4

as for modchip since you are in that state i would say the only way is opening it, and looking

    thanks admiral,
    couple of things:
    - I am aware that if I have 3.2 I need 3.3 (that's why i'm d/l Wario land) - i'll update when i'll have it
    - how can I install wii update manager if my wii is bircked?
    - where can I find fw 3.4? on what games?

has anyone here had success with the savemii/savemiifrii?
