    Question Installing Wanin's rev20b alongside rev17?

I've been searching guide after guide and I can't really find any steps as to how you can install another version of Wanin's cIOSX to your wii when you have a different version installed already.

I have rev17 installed to 249 and I wanted to install rev20b to 250 to play around with it. Do I just need to change the IOS used when installing to 250? I noticed the message at the bottom of the installer screen says " This installer will use ios 249" so I'm guessing this isn't what's required. Do I need a different installer or a wad file to get this installed properly?

Also is there any advantage to using a different base than 38 for installing rev20b?

    hey,
look in my sig to find wanin and hermes cios as wads.
recommended set up and explanation also there.
just install rev20 250 wad (base you prefer 56 for example) with wadmanager, leave cios249rev17 base 38.
    good luck

You can install it as IOS250 using the installer, by using IOS249 to install it.
Awesome sig picture does not work

vinatec: I remember reading through the cIOS Wads page you listed and I was a bit confused, mostly because of the variety of bases you can use, for instance, cIOS250 has 37, 38, 56 and 57, but what base is best? I'm mostly installing rev20b to play around with USB loader game compatability.

Bliepo: So when the loader first opens up and it has 249 highlighted, just change that to 250 and all will be fine? I assume the warning at the bottom just said "I am going to use 249 to run this installer"?

have a look at recommended set up and the FAQ at the very end again, explanation there.

    Spoiler

in the installer, like mentioned use 249 at first selection. if you got the proper installer you should have options where to install rev20 to and with which base.

So I guess the real question then is, what base is best? From the list provided, it looks as if base 57 would be the best choice to use (compared especially to 56 and I suppose 38). It mentions that it works best with newer games, but does it work with older games at all, or as well as rev17 does installed to base 38?

As you can see in my sig, I have my 249 slot as base 57 for compatibility in most games, however I have 250 installed as base 38 because the sole reason I use that slot is because I use Wad Manager 1.4 (Read: If it ain't broke...) and that version of Wad Manager will not load correctly for me on base 57. If you are looking to use 250 to play games to check compatibility of games, I suppose base 57 would be the way to go.

A couple questions summersyn, why Wad Manager version 1.4 as opposed to a newer version like 1.5 or 1.7?

I notice you use CFG Loader 249 for playing backups. I have just started using CFG Loader as I usually use Wiiflow (trying to see if compatibility is any different or if one is really better than another). My question is, if you load CFG Loader 249, can you use this version to load cIOS 250 or 227, or do you have separate .dol files to load these versions?

I am only using CFG Loader for running Hermes v4 222/223 on mine as I use Wiiflow for 249 (though I could use Wiiflow for 222/223 as well), but can one version of CFG Loader cover the other cIOS's you use?

    its mainly users choice.
i have 249rev17 base 38, for Triiforce compability
and 250rev20 base56 due to overall good compability, i dont care if game loading takes 2secs longer.

Triiforce compatibility is exactly why I uninstalled rev19
Have you compared compatability between base 57 and 56? Any other differences?
