    Question Homebrew Questions

I am about to install the Homebrew Channel on my Wii, and I have a couple of questions... I am very afraid to brick my wii because I love my wii. What is the percentage that I will brick my wii(Im using these instructions: Homebrew setup - WiiBrew) And If I do, How will I fix it without downgrading? Can I play burned games? Will it cause any permanent damage to my wii? Can I still play online? Will I be able to mod any games? If those Instructions aren't any good... I would need a step-by-step tutorial teaching me how to do it. I don't know which version of menu I have ... [(I think 4.2 or 4.3 or something like that...) I have no idea what the whole menu thing even means either] Anyway... I'm very new to doing any kind of stuff like this... And I really want the Homebrew Channel... I just need to know if it will cause any damage or hurt my Wii to where it is unfixable... Thank you!

You should stop by HERE first, the mods will give you links to answer almost any question you may have.

That is a lot of questions there! You will need to know what your system menu is to choose the correct method of installation. There are guides on this site to mod whatever version it is that you have (look at the links in my sig). Not likely to brick your wii as long as as you are following directions. You can still play online, just don't cheat! Just installing HBC is not going to harm your wii. Do some research on this site and you will be fine.

Hi I safely say you will not brick your wii if you do the following
    1. Find out your exactly which system menu you have (go to system menu on your wii you should see it in top right corner it will say something like this 4.1E 4.2U 4.3E)
    2. Find a guide from this site to use
    3. Read that guide and follow it to the letter

Guides from other sites are not supported on here. The guide authors really know there stuff here and can help you if any problem arises

here are some links to the guides you may need

    System menu 3.1 to 4.1 > http://www.wiihacks.com/recommended-...d-any-wii.html[
    System menu 4.2 >http://www.wiihacks.com/recommended-...y-4-2-wii.html
    System menu 4.3 > http://www.wiihacks.com/recommended-...mod-guide.html

Make a post in the introductions threads after reading this

Remember by reading the guides on this site and performing the steps exactly you should not expect to brick your wii.
I have used these guides extensively and not had 1 problem completing any softmod

If you follow guides that are on this site you should be fine

The following are the main reasons for bricking
    Not following guide correctly
    Trying to theme your wii
    installing unknown wads
updating your wii with a game from other region
    Installing CIOScorp/Darkcorp
    Deleting IOS under 200
    Using youtube videos

Relax you should be fine if your read everything first
When I first modded a Wii I spent 1 week researching before I took the plunge and whilst I was modding I was so scared but I managed quite well.
If you are unsure have a look round the site for a while then when your happy attempt to mod your wii there is no rush but you will love what you can do after modding.

    Good luck either way

I don't think anyone can guarantee that. But the guides on here are solid and well written. If followed properly you should be good. Not to mention the guides creators and other knowledgeable member back them up and help solve peoples problems as they arise. I wish I had found this site before I hacked my Wii. It was a learning process for me but it would have sure been a lot easier with a great guide and proper guidance.
