update a wii with custom theme? Typo Fixed

what would happen if you updated a wii and it had a .csm theme installed. would it brick? would it update and still have the theme intacked? or would it simply update and whipe the theme?

First off, why do you want to update (no point) and second off, why are you messing with themes since you don't have bootmii as boot2? (I just responded to your other thread reguarding trading for an older wii)

I certainly wouldn't chance it. If the update changes the system menu IOS I'm not sure that it would matter since the theme is on a different IOS (for instance 60 or 70) and the update may use a different IOS(80). Still I don't know exactly what the themes mess with so I wouldn't do it. There may be a safe way to do it but that's kinda a tricky subject.

If you don't have BootMii as boot2 do not do any theming --- high likelihood of bricking (and limited to no recovery options).

If you don't have bootmii as boot2 then you really should not be messing with themes. I know krafter has boot2 and if it weren't for that then he would be out a wii. Priiloader does NOT always work in recovering a bad theme. (I know I sound like a broken record, but I'm pretty passionate on this issue.) If you want a safe alternative to themes that looks cool check out Ithian's guide called Wiiflow Installation and Settings, and have priiloader boot to that. Looks 500 times better than a theme ever could.

I have boot2 and never found a need to add a theme to my Wii, if it doesn't add function then it's useless. If I want something that is pleasing to look at, then I'll fire up a different console.

I agree as well, but there are those users out there that prefer form to function lol.

themes are a nice feature...took me a long time to try it (boot2,priiloader,sneek)

if you mess with themes understand the risk your taking if it seems worth it go for it.....(read a good guide on it)

or get sneek and change the theme on it as much as you want

I am surprised nintendo didnt include different theme with the new black wii...
