Yeah, you can use any version of WM that you like. I only included WM 1.7 to cover people using Rev19/20 (but as cile said, it works with Rev17 as well).
    Damn I suck!!!!

Thanks! My friend uses the shop channel often and needed to update, tried just that, got a 002, tried installing ios80 because I knew that was new, and still got it. Shoulda done my research, you learn something new every day I guess. Doesn't really matter, he will come back to town in a week or two and I'll fix it.

Does shop channel always use ios56?

I am not quite sure what you mean. SC v20 always requires IOS56 to be installed, but past versions used IOS51 and IOS61 instead.

    I've gotten to the

    >> Select NAND emulator device: <Disable>

screen, but all of my controllers fail to input any commands beyond this point.
I've searched but havent been able to find anything related to this problem, though the search function wasnt exactly user friendly so I may have missed it.

Did you try pressing A again, after it disconnects? Happens sometimes...

Use Wad manager 1.7.... also if you don't have cIOS249 installed then it won't work....so use IOS36 or IOS250 to install if needed.
    Damn I suck!!!!

Pressing A just results in the wii remotes light blinking and flickering off, signaling no connection.
I'm using WAD Manager v1.7 and have cIOS249. I appreciate the help.
Are these the only solutions you know of?

You shouldn't be having that issue. Did you try pressing A 2 or 3 times (after it stops blinking). Use a different IOS to install or reinstall cIOS38 Rev 17 and try again with IOS249. Try another wad manager.
    Damn I suck!!!!
