    Us Dvd read error

Hello all, let me say in advance that all the help I receive here is always greatly appreciated and helpful. I do hope that I posted in the correct section. If I didnt, I apologize in advance. Firstly I would be considered a noob, if it wasn't for Dogeggs. I SUCCESSFULLY soft modded my wii about a year ago. Using Dogeggs tutorial without a hitch. I use Image Burn at 2x, and Verbatim DVD's. I have burned over 200 games inthe last year and only had a problem with Wii Resort. This is my issue: The newest game that I downloaded and burned was Super Mario Galaxy 2 and my son seemed to enjoy it. Last night my son called me in and showed me an error in Neogamma which said DVD Read Error 1142. I immediately sat down and began reading. I saw a few replies for other ppl wit the same problem. However, I stoppped in my tracks when i saw that all of them were 4.2, and most Canadian. So here is my questions, before I go and start messing wit anything, I have a 3.2 NTSC Wii that has worked brilliantly until now. Is there a way to repair this issue without re-installing the entire soft mod??? I ask cuz because unfortunately my son will loose all his saved game progresses. Also, is there something that I need to be looking for that I missed with this particular game??? This was the last game that worked. I use Wii Brick Blocker for every disc and have never had a problem. What is my best plan of attack to recover the console without bricking it or loosing his saved progres??? Thanking you in advance for your patience and replies. I tried to include all pertinent information you may need. Thank you kindly. Respectfully and wit best regards. Thank you P.S. No store bought games work either.

Have you tried other games, other disks, or tried reburning anything?

Wii Sports Resort required some extra steps; there was a bug in SM4.0 that caused issues with this title, this may be true with 3.2 as well. SMG2 has a guide for it; both of these titles' guides can be found in Krank's Problematic Games thread here. The fact that store-bought games aren't working suggests something definitely is going on. Post a SysCheck as described here in a reply to this thread.

Thank you very much for your responses. @oddgriffin: I tried about 13 older games that had previously worked before and got the same error message. I re-burned Despicable Me 3 times and got the same message. @ nightstah: Thank you for your advice. I never really worried about getting Wii Resort working, every 10-15 games i get one that he brings back to me and says it doesnt work. I simply chalk it up to something new on game and toss the bad disc. I will follow your directions and post a SysCheck to this thread and see where to go from there. I will have to do tomorrow after work as it is getting late tonight. If I finish my laundry and housework early enough I may jump on and follow link and do it tonight. Thank both of you for your input and advice. Please look forward to information being posted in a reply to this thread soon. Thanking you in advance.

Sounds like hardware failure or perhaps the lens of the dvd drive may need cleaning, but if there is something software related involved, a system check will show it.

Your IOS are out of date. Look here to compare your revisions against updated IOS. You can use NUS Downloader or NUS Auto Downloader for Windows to update the relevant IOS (note: either requires an internet connection, whether on your Wii or PC). Your missing some other IOS that newer games use, so they won't run unless you have them installed. That's a System Menu 3.2 Wii, so that's good; do you have Priiloader installed as well?

PHEW.....That is good news!!!!! All kinds of dollar signs were flowing through my head, good to know this may be a simple fix. I am on my lunch break and just popped on the have a look at any responses. Once I arrive home, I will take a closer look at your notes and follow your instructions. I do not have Priiloader installed. Do I need to do so and can I do it this late in the process. I tried to make it as easy as possible for my son to use and I believe it was optional. I will check again this evening before I begin updating. Thank you for your assistance and informative instructions. Hopefully this will get the system up and running again. This was such a wonderful experience. I always read before I post and I was so scared that I was gonna get blasted out of the water for posting in wrong place or asking the wrong question. LOL Glad to see that I stayed on task and received the help I needed without getting fired upon. Thank you again, and I will double check for your responses before I begin updates. Have a wonderful day.

Priiloader is good to install. You can enable the hacks to block disc-based updates and online updates. In my opinion, it shouldn't be optional (but I do realize that is what our tutorials label it as). You do not want to accept official updates in any form on softmodded Wiis.

Well then Priiloader sounds like it may help me from another issue that come up down the road regarding auto updating. Can I install it this late in the game??? Also, will it interfere or create another step for my son to have normal gameplay?? I will check back after work. Thanks again.

P.S. I am sitting at work beginning some of the process. In comparing IOS's on my system with the list...several of them are way behind. I have compiled a list of the newest revisions. What specific IOS's do you recommend I also install for newer games??? Thank You

OK, home from work. I downloaded NUS Auto Downloader. Compared my current IOS to list in link u provided I have 15 that are way out of date. Made notes on my sheet of which ones I needed to upgrade. Installed NUS Auto Downloader and I am having a hard time navigating around in program. I can get to the IOS's that I need but it says to highlight which ones u want to add to download que. I have tried everything. Right click gives u option to mark but nothing happens. Once I get this figured out how do I install these updated IOS's to the console. Sorry like I said it has been awhile. I look forward to hearing from you.

UPDATE: Found a tutorial thru google for navigation instructions of Nus Auto Downloader. Downloaded IOS's that I needed to update. Awaiting instructions on how to update new ios's to console. Thank you
