    read error 1167 neogamma R8

well i just finished modding my wii last night, and anytime i try to run a game i get the read error 1167

i've checked my wii and its an older model, so the drive isnt the issue, im in the process of cleaning the lens right now and will report back on that

and im using verbatim dvd-r's at 3X

im kinda of stumped here. my previous wii didnt care about the media as long as it was -r, and would read it even at 6X (which i burned at before i read that wii's normally prefer a slower speed for dvd's)

it plays normal games just fine, and i cant get the wbfs manager stuff installed onto my computer to be able to use a USB loader

so if anyone has any ideas, or something that helped them with the same problem please let me know

i've spent a full day googling and reading through here before i finally got fed up and made this post, so i have researched and tried to resolve it myself first

forgot to add, im on 4.0u or 4.1u (may have updated during the mod process since it told me to)

    console serial is LU114407771

and this is what wiidrives says

Your drive most likely has the following chipset:

    * There is a 50% chance the chipset is Combined GC2-D3 with no drive chip.
    * And there is also a 50% chance the chipset is GC2-D3-2 (v2) with no drive chip.

so from what i understand the dvd drive should be fine, correct me if im wrong though

Put a usb stick in the back of your wii and load up a usb loader and try and play the game via that if it works then there is a problem with neogamma. whats the problem with wbfs on your computer?

it needs net framework 3.5 to be installed

to install framework i have to have windows installer 3.1

anytime i try to install framework it says windows installer 3.1 is blocking it from installing. so i pretty much have no way to install it

im in the process of trying to find a flash drive right now, most of the ones i have are 2g and 4g

do i just drag the iso into the flash drive on my comp?

ok well i got it sort of going.

cleaning made no difference. but my girlfriends laptop installed wbfs manager just fine so i used that to put mario kart on a 4G flash drive and it works perfectly.

however i would rather burn to discs then use the usb loader, so does anyone have any ideas where to go from here?

dont know if its important or not, but i had to switch usb ports a couple times before it read the iso and loaded it so i could play.

Like i said b4 load usb loader up and then insert the disc and see if it plays through usb loader. U can play discs via usb loader! if it works then the problem is with neogamma if not then it is most likely a media or cios/ios problem

well its not a media problem.

and if its working through the flash drive on usb loader then it shouldnt be a cios/ios problem should it? i just used the usb loader in neogamma.

how are you supposed to load a disc through usb loader though? or do i need a seperate one that supports that

The results you got from your serial # effectively is saying this is a newer Wii. It said D3-nothing or D3-2. This is not an older Wii like you think --- you won't be able to play backups via the drive.

well that sucks, thanks for the info though.

i was under the impression that newer wii systems had a serial # above LU64, and as mine was LU11 i was in the clear.

since i got wbfs working on her laptop i guess i'll just use that.

Sorry if this is an old thread but I have the same problem NeoGamma R8 DVD read error 1167 on my 4.3E. I mainly use USB Loader GX which works perfectly with my WBFS external hard drive. I installed NeoGamma R8 and burnt one of the games with ImgBurn and tried to play it with NeoGamms R8 Disc Loder but I get the 1167 read error. Now I've searched the web about NeoGamma Disc Loader and they all say use a Verbatum DVD-R discs now I've always used TDK DVD-RW as if you make a mistake or something doesn't work you just erase it and start again.

Someone has said try playing the disc with USB Loader but I don't see any option to that?

Do they have to be DVD-R discs?

    1167:
DVD Read Error:Bad burn/media.Dirty Lens use Wii Lens Cleaner.Trying to play a Dual Layer game with rev14- update to cIOS38rev17+.Some old wiis are known to have problems with dual layer games. If its a new wii then it has a d3-2 drive and you cant play disc backups.Only option is USB loading.

How old is the wii if its since 2009 it prob won't have the capability, has it ever played a backup disc?
