    few newbie questions

    Hi all,right i want to get a mod chip for my sons wii,ive read a few threads and im stuck still,do i need to no what drive i have ? what about firmware my wii is brand new and i think my son has updated it aswell, what steps do i need to take now? thanks for any help given,,im not a total noob to modding ive done my psp and 360,so i no a little

    Hi dad2610, welcome to the WiiHacks community.

    As far as Wii update, if you don't plan on running any Homebrew for now then it really doesn't matter. And I'm sure by the time you get yourself familiar with what the Wii can do, there will be homebrew solutions using the new update.

    All current Firmware has nothing to do with modchips, until 3.4 is released :[. Currently Homebrew got a little boot to the ass with 3.3revised but it is being worked over lol.

    so if i go online and update my wii's firmware (because its not reading any game anymore including the original copies), then i should be able to play my original copies? how do i know if im downloading the right version of the firmware. i've heard i should only go for 3.2 but not 3.3 or up?

    If you don't care about Homebrew then you can just update using the Wii Settings menu to update online. But if you care about homebrew then you should update by other means as discussed in other threads.
