    Cios and USB ports

    Hello all
Im just after a little advice as I dont have a problem as such, my system details are.....
    PAL console on 4.1e
    Homebrew 1.03
    Neogamma r6
    Usb loader Gx rev 712
    CFG usbloader v56
    Cios 36 rev 10

The issue,or potential issue is I have to use cios36 rev10 as the bottom USB port(the one needed for rev13 onwards), is damaged beyond fixing, so only have the use of the top one hence why rev 10 works perfectly. When i initially softmodded i used rev13a which ok for discs was unworkable for usb which is my prefered method of booting backups as I have 135, it was possible to get usb loader gx to mount my usb under rev13a but it was a matter of plug unplug many times and a lot of hoping. So acting on advice I installed rev 10 and neogamma, usb loader gx and cfg instantly mounts my WD 320gb usb. I have 135 backups and all apart from1 (GH5 wont work at all followed every guide but no luck) work perfectly, the latest addition is Tiger woods 2011.
So is it possible im going to run into issues in the future with rev10, as im not sure if its worth trying to get new usb ports put in or if its possible. Or is there a later version that does not require a specific USB port.
Basicly i want to know if there are games available or forthcomming that will likely not work on rev10, and is it worth the risk in taking my wii to a shop to get the USB ports replaced.
    Thankyou in advance

you can only usb load from one usb port(looking at the wii from the back the [right] port)...you should use junkmail's update your softmod guide....

did you install hermes to load the guitar hero game

Yes its the right hand port that is damaged. cios36rev10 and below allow the use of both ports as i can only use the left one i have to use rev 10. the right hand port is damaged beyond repair the only option would be to have the ports replaced but im not sure if its possible or how risky it would be. I dont have any problems playing my backups with rev10 but im worried that might change

In the same boat, my son damaged the needed usb port as well as the eject button on the wii console.
Sent from my van, down by the river.

Yea I found a homebrew app to eject the disks and made a thread about it in the lounge, in case it is helpful to anyone.
Kids have no problems breaking stuff, when we were kids I had to use sticks for guns to play cops and robbers lol.

So how'ya get around the needed USB port, or do you? Good idea re: HB eject option, I wouldn't have thought of it. Necessity is the mother of invention, they say

No workaround on the usb port yet. It is the necessary one to, the other one is still intact. I'm not gonna give up, but he has his disks for now.

I suppose IOS 222 won't be helpful since that's focused more on stuff for instruments, etc. That's a cryin' shame... if a standard USB port and you're competent or above average, you could desolder and replace the port. Not for the faint at heart (my category on that).

I did that on a computer that I had.... Stupid dog run under desk and I had a controller plugged to front and ripped the cord out and broke the inside of port.... A little help from my handy dandy soldering iron and a fine fine tip and a old compter port.... It was allgood.... But it was a pain....
