    noob needs help

I am having someone come over to do a softmod on my wii version 3.4u. I have done a lot of reading up on the subject from forums etc and was wondering if there is any reason to have my firmware updated prior to the mod to v 4.1 or 4.2. My concern is that if I buy a new game it will not work on 3.4, is that the case with any games? Also, do any of the games have the 4.3 update on teh disc and force that firmware on you to use the game. Please help. I am a mom trying to get this set up for my kids as a surprise and am a little nervous about the whole softmod thing.

Our softmod guide will update your console to 4.1 as part of the process, so there is no need to mess around with trying to do it from a disk unless you do not have internet access. The reason for the update is to be able to use a "brick protection" program called Priiloader, it is not to be able to play games.
There are system files called ios files that enable the wii to perform it's many functions including playing particular games. They are installed when one uses an update, but can also be manually installed if the user has softmodded. It is better to manually install them since the updates will also destroy a persons softmod and in some cases brick their console.

In other words, games are not System Menu dependent rather they are IOS dependent.

Also, as I stated. If you for some reason cannot get internet access on your wii console. That would bbe the only reason I would use a disk update. A disk update is updating from a retail disk like new super mario brothers. It is not safe to use the official online update that the wii tries to prompt you to do. They are two different situations.

    i dont have the internet,

I do not currently have the interned hooked up to my wii. IS it just as good to do it from the disc of Mario bros. I am worried about future games wanting to update to 4.3 later (i know tht is not going to happen yet, but i am sure someday it will) How do you block future disc updates? The guy that was going to do my softmod just cancelled. I am a bit nervous to do it myself. I want to make slure I get someone that really knows this stuff. Can a softmod be done without my wii connected online?

Priiloader is part of the softmod process (in our guide anyway), and it can be set-up to block all updates (from disk or internet).
Do you have a wireless router connected in your home? You should be able to go to the settings menu of the wii console and connect. It will ask you to update SAY NO.

now i really feel dumb but where on the website is the softmod guide that i would use for v 3.4 u. does it also install the usb loade and which one does it use, wiiflow looks neat but is it the best choice. I get confused when people talk about adding isos/cios for certain games taht they are having problems with. Is it likely that after i softmod my wii that i may have trouble playing new games that i buy and just play fromt he disc. if they are a problem how do you fix them by changing/adding these fixes. do you just put something on an sd card and insert it into the wii. I know these questions are basic, the whole thing is a bit overwhelming. I am pretty good at reading up on things I just don't want to mess up my wii so it will constantly need updating. I like the idea of haviing a bunch of games on the hdd up front and then just buying what we want when it comes out.
