WADS load up but Wiimotes turn off

I'm having a serious problem. I'll give the story. I had my 4.2U system softmodded and had the USBLoader_GX working great. My kids unplugged the HDD while the system was still on. After which I could go into the USBLoader but games would no longer load up, couldn't even select them. I assumed it was something I did so I virginized the system not thinking the HDD was the problem. Virginizing worked without a hitch. I tried softmodding again according to the Lifehacker article hxxp://lifehacker.com/5518518/how-to-back-up-and-play-your-wii-games-from-an-external-hard-drive to get games up and running from my HDD again. I had to use IOS250 instead of IOS249 in order to install from DOP-Mii. From the USBLoader I could select the games and when I select the spinning disc icon, I would be kicked back to the System Menu. :016: So I virginized the system again but left HBC to start remodding. I also did not do a an update so N could reinstall all the IOS's I deleted above 200. DON'T WORRY, I DIDN'T TOUCH ANY IOS BELOW 200. When I used messie's guide to softmod the only IOS above 200 was 254 so I said okay, no prob, I'll do an update to get those back in order for me to fix them. I updated and realized right away I FUBARed. From that point onwards, when I go into HBC, I can load any HBC app, but as soon as a press any button on the motes to continue, they turn off, system freezes and I have to unplug the system to reset. I even tried uninstalling HBC, did a system format and installing HBC again. Same problem. I tried searching for same problem and found similar posts but I can't seem to restart the modding because the HBC apps will load but freeze as soon as the buttons are pressed on the motes. I really need help because my Wii works fina as N intended but I fear I am unable to softmod. Please help.

When i load DOP-Mii, the motes stays on but A or B does nothing, I can shut the system off from the Mote.

In cIOS installer, I can press left or right to select IOS but when I press A, the Wiimote turns off and won't reconnect. It will only flash momentarily then turn off. I have to unplug to reset.

I have BootMii installed as an IOS and I backed up the NAND before doing the initial update that crewed the system. I know it isn't recommended but will I be able to fix this using the backup NAND? I guess I need to press A+B+X+Y to start restore.

Use this guide; "virginize" your wii again, completely this time. You shouldn't need to restore your nand backup because it doesn't sound like a brick, more like incompatible files from your updating, which could also be the reason your wiimotes keep disconnecting. Make sure you follow the guide, reinstall hbc/dvdx, after you get everything installed properly make a new nand backup, then post back if you still need help. But this guide was really helpful when I used it, so GL!

Next time your hdd gets disconn while the system is in USBloader GX, go in GX's settings and double check that your games are set to lad from WBFS, I have done this several times just to mess around, and when I remove my hdd while scanning through GX, the settings seem to change to a load the games from elsewhere, simply changing the game load back to wbfs(which should also list your hdd) everything returned to normal.

You're right, the Wii isn't bricked. It works just like an unmodded Wii.

Do I virginize according to this guide? I used this originally and it worked like a charm. I think i made the mistake of choosing not to finish and left HBC on while there was no IOS above 200. I believe I should have uninstalled HBC, BootMii and DVDX before I did the update. Correct me if I'm wrong, but after removing everything (IE: all IOS above 200, then HBC) an update to N should restore all the stock IOS's above 200?

yes that's the one. then follow messie's guide HERE. Carefully. Don't skip any steps. I've had better luck with this guide than the one you linked by Shadowsonic. (no offense shadow, i couldn't tell you why.) If you get stuck with a "no Vulnerable ios" error do a quick search there is a guide for it. You shouldn't get that message if you follow the Virginize guide correctly. Good luck and Godspeed Grasshopper.

Well, the virginize guide worked up to a point (I didn't have any problems before). I was able to re-install all the IOS WADs using IOS36. Could not use the NAND cleaner (it just wouldn't load) but to me it doesn't matter anyways because I never installed the priloader. In AnyTitle Deleter, when I went to clear the IOS's above 200 I am unable to. When selecting any of the IOS's above 200, the Wiimotes just turn off, no menu and I have to reboot. I tried using all the IOS's in the 30's and 50's plus 70 and I was able to get a menu but the titles above 200 won't delete, they are still in the menu. When I virginized before, after deleting an IOS, it would disappear from the menu. So I'm kinda stuck here and don't know if I should continue and uninstall HBC and DVDX plus BootMii. Any suggestions from here?

For best results with trouble virginizing. post your problem in that thread that way people who are familiar with your specific problem are more likely to be monitoring.

Okay have my Wii virginized again. Special thanks to Kangaroo128 and mesang for having the same problem I did. Exactly the same problem. Special thanks to those who replied with their useful advice. Here is what I did.

I followed Steps B and C of messie's guide to softmodding a 4.2 Wii to correct this problem based on the error messages I was getting when trying to delete system titles. Essentially, I didn't have and CIOS so what these steps did was get me to uninstall IOS249 which I believe is a stub IOS and install a CIOS249. Worked like a charm. I was able to use NAND clean, delete all titles above 200, removed HBC, DVDx, and BootMii all in that order. Once that was done, I unlinked my account in Shop channel then formatted system memory then did an update to NUS. All good to go. Am relieved. Will go ahead and softmod tomorrow.

Okay, got everything loaded according to messie's guide with the USB loader GX and NeoGamma and ran into another problem. My games won't load but will either freeze after wrist strap screen or just kicks me back to the system menu. The GUI settings aren't helping me considering I'm having trouble playing the games I backed up. I'm getting so frustrated with this considering every game I have used to work just fine. I think I may try ShadowSonic's guide. The HDD might be the trouble too. I have a 640GB Seagate 2.5" portable drive. I think I will try Wiiflow and CLG if I get no joy with the next previous mentioned. As for the problems I had virginizing the system, I think it's safe to close this thread.
