    lol nice one takenover

the myth of being able to burn out your dvd drive is exactly what is says on the tin - a myth

quoted from someone who knows what he is doing.

DONT WORRY people - the wii was designed to play dvds and all you need is a small software tweak with mplayer to play dvds. Wii games are on dvds for gods sake...

    u r wrong there..
wii read dvd not the same as game disc, if not mistaken dvd disc need to be read continuously not like game disc which only need to be read at certain time. thus that is what previous post said bout more risk to 'burn' the dvd drive.

I'm using mplayer ce to watch avi files, i use smb to watch files from the desk top you can use your sd card or HDD if you have a FAT32 partition or NTFS partition, you can watch DVDs(but why bother).

mplayerwii and accessing media via wi-fi

when i install the proagram, the only options on the screen are :
play files from the SD card
play files from the USB drive

yet, someone in this thread states that you can use it with wii wifi.
    could you please explain that?

    So which has better playback?

I have read all the posts here, and I see mplayerwii and geexbox. I am just wondering, which one is the better for ONLY watching .avi files?
