Recommedation for WiiHacks.com - Wii IOS Lists

Hi, I am a major fan of wiihacks.com and been in the modding scene for quite a while and came across an idea which I believe is worth listening to.

We should have a IOS List status part in this forum divided in different categories depending on the firmware versions of the wii's. The post should include the IOS list (taken from DOP-IOS) which everyone on a particular firmware should have and If they should be FakeSigned, ES_Identify, etc.

The forum can be updated on a regular basis when new IOS updates come out. This way we can all be on the same page will save lots of time and space for issues regarding some programs or channels or games not working correctly and so on. I was recently looking around and noticed many people were getting stack dump errors for some dumps due to having an incorrect ios or missing ios.

Like I said this is a suggestion and just trying to help out everyone with this idea
Hope you find idea as useful! and keep up the great work

That would be an absolute nightmare to maintain and between Tealc's ios guides and the one on NUSD I don't really see how much of a help that would be. There's really no standard ios for system menus. Lots of people are around here on 3.2 and have 4.2 ios's on there so they can play games. Never hurts to get suggestions, but we do have a section for site suggestions.

Stack dumps don't come from missing or out of date IOS. Also there are many lists dealing with IOS that cover every base you have touched on excluding what IOS everyone should have...which is impossible because there is no set list that every person will have.. It will differ for everyone.(even when you base it on system menu) All the info you seek can be found by searching. The only IOS that need to be patched are..

    4.1 - IOS36 and IOS60
    4.2 - IOS36 and IOS70

no i meant more like the basic ios needed and if they should be signed and so on.. also many people are reporting stack dumps or code dumps regarding HBB upon loading and apparently it has to do with the IOS from which i was reading.. also more ioses than that have to be patched for example giving super user rights to some apps and cioses as well..

or perhaps a list of safe to patch ioses or necassary to patch ioses. Ex. for nsmb u need a patched fakesign ios to play it too. And some ios if u patch it the homebrew channel gets upside down its just would be a quick thing to add or maybe update the lists you currently have and write recommended to patch for this app for ex.

You are confused my friend. It was a good suggestion but as mentioned this would not be easy to maintain. Also those ARE the only NORMAL IOS you need patched.(36 and 60 for 4.1 or 70 for 4.2) Any IOS over 200 is patched as well. The IOS that the HBC uses is well known so any stack dumps related to that can be easily solved by searching.

    EDIT: HBB = HBC App

Homebrew browser doesn't require any out of the ordinary ios's. Some of the apps you download from it might and it is prone to stack dumps as a result of reading and writing to the sd card as much as it does.
Go to wiibrew.com there is explanation and discussion for the app, but we didn't create or maintain it.

I guess to settle you can just check out the IOS list which includes all of the up-to-date revisions and functions of each in the Other FAQS/Guides section. It's on page 2 right now I believe.

Receiving code dump when downloading applications

Receiving code dumps when the Homebrew Browser is downloading applications is a known issue that we are working to resolve. This code dump happens randomly either when starting a download, when a download is running or when there are downloads that have been queued. You should just restart your Wii and load up HBB again.

Receiving code dump when loading Homebrew Browser

If you receive a code dump when loading the Homebrew Browser you should try:

    •Restarting HBB
    •Removing the /apps/homebrew_browser/temp directory
    •Removing HBB and re-installing HBB
If you receive a code dump at any other time, please do let us know about it and also include what you were doing when it happened and if you can reproduce the code dump.

4.ix. Free space detected is incorrect
If you have a 4GB or larger SD/USB device, when the Homebrew Browser loads you may notice that the free space reported by the Homebrew Browser is incorrect. This may lead to problems with downloading if it says "Not enough free space". If you receive this error, please turn off the Check free space setting.

    4.x. Applications don't download / download button won't work
You may experience that the Homebrew Browser no longer lets you download any application which is usually related to a controller problem. You should try unplugging any Gamecube controllers, nunchucks, dance pads, etc, anything other than the Wiimote, restart HBB and try again
