Question Settings page not working and need my Wii back to original state - help please?

    Hi everyone,

I really need some help here, read loads of tutorials etc but I'm getting nowhere, I hope someone can help me out.

Here's what I want done to my little niece's Wii:
    1. Change the settings and language from Japanese to English (UK)
    2. Take off all softmods and put it back to original state

First of all the biggest problem I have is not knowing the Wii's version because when I go to Settings an Opera page appears with a couple of links and saying to check if my internet connection is active and so on. So I'm not able to follow the tutorials with putting it back to 'virgin' state.

The second problem I have is trying to change the Wii to English with AnyRegion Changer which was supposed to fix the problem I had with Settings and the internet. When I load AnyRegion Changer v1.1b through The Homebrew Channel it first comes up with the following:

    Identifying as SU...Error! ES_Identify (ret = -1017)
    Initializing Filesystem driver...OK!
    Error! ES_OpenTitleContent (ret = -1026)
Then at the next page beside 'Edit Region Settings' it shows a warning sign:

    WARNING: AREA/SysMenu MISMATCH!
I change it to the following settings:

    Language Setting: English
    Console Area Setting: Europe
    Game Region Setting: Europe
    Console Video Mode: PAL
    Shop Country Code: 110 (UK)
    Services EULA: Read

And when I select Save Settings it says:

    Saving...Unexpected Error: SYSCONF_SaveChanges Value: -1017
    Press any key to quit
So I press any key and load it up again and only the Language Setting and Shop Country Code have been saved, the rest still have Japanese settings. Then I've gone down to System Menu Region and changed it to 'Europe' and selected to Install System Menu 3.2E, which it then goes on to trying to connect to network - but of course I don't have wireless setup because of the Settings page not working.

I am seriously stuck here and would really really appreciate if anyone could spare some of their time helping me out.

    Sorry for the long post.

    TIA.

1017 is a bad ios installed. if you have PriiLoader installed turn on your wii while holding the reset menu. Then from the Priiloader menu select homebrew channel. run syscheck, post the results here and one of the senior guys will tell you which ios's need to be removed/updated/repaired.

If you don't have Priiloader installed or at least Bootmii installed as boot 2. You are going to just hope you have Cioscorp installed and use a recovery cd. try this thread and see if it helps.

Thanks for the reply raidrunner. I've managed to get AnyRegion Changer to work by first going through the softmod tutorial and installing Priiloader. So now I've finally got the Settings page to work and the Wireless connection. Checked the version of the Wii and it says it's on 4.1E. Can I go ahead with the tutorial on making it 'virgin'?

Thanks again, defo gonna make a donation to this forum.

    I didn't notice a guide that specifically listed 4.1E I have never Virginized a Wii only De-virginized. ;-)

Before you try that i would wait for a more senior member to recommend which guide to use so you don't re-brick.
