    Unhappy Cannot install homebrew browser

I followed this tutorial: http://www.wiihacks.com/recommended-...y-4-2-wii.html and installed Homebrew Channel. What a rush! So awesome! Originally, I had planned to use Lifehacker's tutorial, but this one was so much clearer. Plus, these instructions told me how to backup my NAND. Lifehacker didn't mention the NAND at all. :P

My Wii is a launch model if I'm not mistaken. I stupidly upgraded faithfully though, so it's the latest firmware. I never foresaw homebrewing... or the optical drive breaking.

Anyway, I followed the tutorial and successfully completed all steps except the ones deemed extra. I installed USBloaderGX instead of Neogamma though, since my drive is toasty.

I try to install Homebrew Browser. I put the homebrew-browser folder in the apps folder on my SD card. I access the installer through the Homebrew Channel menu, load it up. It mounts the SD, does the other stuff, extracts the image files, then announces that it's aborting. Scary white lines then go down the screen and then it says "DSI exception" ... etc code dump. I have to unplug the Wii to escape. :\

I have never seen the graphical interface of the program.

I have no idea what could be wrong. The SD card is unlocked. Initially I tried the SD I hacked the Wii with, then another. Both fail.

Any help would be appreciated a lot!

Thank you for posting the file.

I attempted it and had the same result, though. I wonder what is going wrong.

I decided that something had gone wrong with my homebrew, so I figured that I would need to revirginize/reinstall everything. Fortunately, the revirginization guide warned NOT to do that if something seemed amiss with a homebrew (or risk bricking your Wii), and advised to instead again follow the softmod guide originally used. *whew* Very grateful the author took the time to put that valuable sentence or two in there!

Followed shadowsonic2's 4.2 guide again. Got a DSI exception twice during the process. Nearly had me a heart attack. But kept trying and it worked.

Then for the Homebrew Browser. Tried to run, did the exact same DSI exception/code dump. Kept trying, and suddenly the graphical interface popped up! Very happy. DSI exception came up a couple times while browsing with HBB, but oh well.

So, my fix was to reformat SD, put homebrew files on it and redo the homebrewing process using the guide I originally used, and then try again with HBB.

I would like to know what a DSI exception is, why they appear... etc.

Think Windblowz BSOD and you got DSI Exception. Fortunately Shadow Sonic's tutorial if followed unstubs IOS 60 should you downgrade to 4.0 or 4.1 (IDK what IOS System Menu < 4.0 runs on, may very well brick and why we state don't downgrade nowadays

I reformatted the SD card, and then followed the exact same homebrew guide again, step by step. Afterward, I put the homebrew browser files on the same SD. That fixed it for me. I suggest fresh files. I downloaded all files all over again for the 2nd try. Why not? Certainly didn't hurt.

I am having the exact same problem, I am on a Wii 4.2u SoftModded with messie tutorial. I didn't get a chance to copy down exactly what it said but everything seemed to be going fine at first until the package was downloaded. Once it finished downloading it started to extract the files & I seen a message say something about cannot open or extract files then the screen went to another page where it started stack dump & screen stopped pretty much. I didn't have to unplug my Wii, I just held the off butto on the Wii to turn off and back on. Whew, everything still working properly but still no Homebrew Browser, I'll give the other file posted above a try when I get off of work, thanks for all of you help guys.
    Console:
    Virgin 4.2u SoftMod // Serial: LU30
    NeoGamma R8 7b // HBC 1.0.6
    cIOS38 Rev17 // BootMii@Boot2
