    Lightbulb Good guide on downgrading wii firmware

    thanks to krazywhiteguy310 at the nes-hacks forum who posted this guide on how to downgrade the wii firmware to any version and region, although changing region is a BAD idea.

    REMOVED

    ---update---

    the first part of thread mentions that you need the following

    "Things you need:

    1x Wii
    1x SD card
    Wifi or Internet Connection on the Wii
    IOS37-64-v2070.wad (dont ask where to get it)
    Homebrew Channel
    Custom IOS 37 rev 03 or higher
    Custom IOS Downgrader v1.0"

    well since there have been updates, so use this instead:

    Things you need:

    1x Wii
    1x SD card
    Wifi or Internet Connection on the Wii
    IOS36-64-v1042.wad (can be extracted from SSBB using the WUFE app)
    Homebrew Channel
    Custom IOS36 rev 04
    Custom IOS Downgrader v1.2

    other than being slightly out of date i followed it and found it very useful indeed

    downloading the IOS36-64-v1042.wad is illegal if you dont own a game that has it in its structure, but check this and then the link. it should sort you out all nice and legally

    "This Wii brew app is from tona, and is programmed to "download IOS36 from Nintendo update servers, patch it, and install it as IOS249 -- making a completely functional 'clone' of Waninkoko's cIOS." It's called the cIOS Patchmii Installer rev04.

    Apart from that basic function, it also detects IOS249 installed, and when it does, it will attempt uninstallation. So why did tona think of making this "clone"?

    Waninkoko's cIOS patches are useful, but a couple of barriers prevent many people from installing it. One, the normal installer requires someone "find," build, or dump an IOS WAD. Two, some people feel an aversion to Waninkoko's applications (on which I have no comment). Patchmii has been out for longer than cIOS, and it's perfect for the task. I finally found a use for cIOS and decided this might be useful in helping surmount the aforementioned barriers.

    Here's what's in the changelog of rev04:

    * Move to IOS36
    * Changed patching methods
    * Working and (hopefully) complete clone of cIOS rev04"

    from wiibrew just download rev04 from that page and extract it to your apps folder in the sd card, then launch from your homebrew channel

    I just had a look at it, and I the downgrade was successful. I downgraded to firmware 3.2E. Thanx everyone. By the way, I used IOS16 from a guide on youtube. after the downgrade, I put in my single layer version of SSBB, and blocked updates using the wiikey configuration tool, and the game sill ran fine.

    If your wii has been upgraded, you'd probably be good leaving it that way, no reason to downgrade, this thread is out of date.
