    Error ret = -1012

    My system:
    Lu32 series wii
    no mod chips
    firmware 4.2u
    IOS249rev14

    I managed to install bootmii/boot2
    HBC Installed and working

Following the tutorials for virgin 4.2 soft modding, I was able to complete every step up to when I was instructed to use wad manager to install neogamma. I got Install Error (ret = -1012). I have since discovered that error -1012 is being thrown for any wad install. I also have seen it as error 40000001012 or something like that. Dop IOS, TBR, etc all throw the same error. I can also seem to generate error -4100 on occasion when I tried install cIOS's. (I received error -1012 on every wad when I tried to install cIOSCORP 3.3, 3.4, or 3.5)

Also, AnyTitleDeleterDB fails on load with error -1012.

oh, btw. I have tried multiple SD cards

Um, is this in the right area? I'm trying to figure out if no one is replying because I'm a newb, and posted in the wrong spot, or if no one actually knows what error -1012 is.

Thought I replied to this a couple of days ago, hmm, apparently I didn't.

Error 1012 sounds like an install issue, probably related to poorly functioning cIOS.

Had a look at your signcheck and I see that none of your IOS are Trucha enabled, not even your IOS249 or IOS222. They are usually Trucha enabled you see. I'm guessing you used DOP-IOS to install IOS249 but neglected to choose the relevant trucha option.

You'll need to install IOS249 (cIOS38rev14 or 17) again using the method outlined in the 4.2 softmod guides.

Thanks for that info, it helps to know more of what is wrong. The main thing now is that when I try to go through the steps again, it gives me error -1012 trying to use DOP, TBR, CIOS249rev14 installer, and rev17 installers. Should I start from the bannerbomb again?

I doubt if that would help. After all Bannerbomb is a just a hack which is mainly used to install hackmii installer.

I suppose you could try one of the other methods to install cIOS. I have no idea if they work on 4.2 though.

Here's one http://www.wiihacks.com/recommended-...-4-cboot2.html Skip the Homebrew Channel stuff obviously if you have bootmii installed.

Also an older one involving the IOS16 http://www.wiihacks.com/homebrew/646...y-package.html

It's really going back in time though so links might not work.

Can you tell me memory of these older techniques is a little fuzzy? I even followed a guide similar to the IOS16 one myself but remember nothing about it now, so many months on.

So I tried to go back and downgrade ios15 so i can run TBR. I get this error
    Code:
    installing ticket...
    Setting the revision to 0
    Error ES_AddTitleStart returned -1012
Error: Could not Set the revision to 0
    Downgrade failed
    EDIT:
I've been trying various guides on trucha bug restoring.
One of them suggested using DOP-IOS MOD v11.1.
it had the same error but a little more verbose
Error ES_AddTitleStart returned -1012 Invalid Signature Type

While I was toiling away, I remembered that I still have the NAND backup I made during the HBC install. So I restored that, which is allowing me to downgrade ios15 and all that good stuff. I'll post back about success/failure of getting rid of error -1012 after i go through the steps again.

EDIT: I don't know if there was an easier way to do it or not. So here is an outline of my ordeal so anyone else having the same error can figure it out.

It seems error -1012 is related to not having the trucha bug enabled correctly.

All my cIOS's that I had installed were when I had IOS15 in a downgraded state. Somehow I managed to install them wrong without enabling the trucha. By the time I knew what was wrong, I had already restored the IOS15 to the latest version.

I would warn people, be sure you are done using IOS15 to install and things are working, then restore it.

It would seem, at least on my wii, that once you restore it, you can not downgrade it again. To solve this problem, I restored my nand from a backup I made during the bannerbomb/hackmii/HBC install. This basically put me right back on the step, in the 4.2 tutorial, where you finished your first nand backup with bootmii. This time I used the newest revisions for ios222(v5), Wad Manager (v1.5), and ios249(v17), In lieu of ios222(v4), Wad Manager(v1.4) and ios249(v14). I was able to get past error -1012 completely this way. But if you don't have a NAND backup, I don't know what you would do.

Also note, I was seeing a lot more of error -1017 while I had this problem too. I assume they are related because all but the one thrown by AnyTitleDeleterMOD, everytime it starts (but works anyway), have stopped.

    Thumbs up Just an addon

Just wanted to say I had the same problem. But unfortunately I did not make a nand backup (stupid at its finest). But I did get a work around for it by using another great guide by Dogeggs. (see below)

If you did NOT make a nand back up like me (I know pretty stupid) and restored your ios15 to ios15 v1031 without doing the truncha bug (failed again). There is hope. Thanks to another great guide by Dogeggs I came out ok. (btw I have a 4.1U system and it worked flawless)
