Wii disc drive not reading discs after soft mod

I just soft modded a 4.0u wii. Just used USB Loader GX to play one game and it worked fine. Now the issue is the optical drive does not seem to be reading wii games. The drive is working I can hear it spinning, just isn't reading the disc for some reason. Is it possibly because of the settings in USB loader? Also after I insert a disc and then try to go to wii settings there is nothing just a blank screen. However I can get into the setting after shutting the system off and inserting no disc. Just wondering what may be causing this to happen.

I haven't even tried a backup. Just the official wii games. Have tried both wii sports and Mario Super Smash Brothers Brawl

Nothing really. Shows the 2 discs spinning, but the you cannot click on the start button. Can click on the back button, but cannot click on the start button. Like I said I know the drive is still working because I can hear it.

Try this..... Pop the game into the drive and dont click on the wii disc channel. Wait until the disc channel shows the game image, then start the game.

Same thing. Image never appears in disc channel before clicking on it. This time I also noticed that after ejecting the disc the first time and then putting it back in, the disc drive does not spin at all. But if you shut the power off and insert the disc, it does spin. Have no idea what is going on.

Very possible that your drive is going bad. Now one way to find out is to start up usb loader gx and pop in a wii game. If you get a messege asking if you want to mount drive or rip game to HDD, then the drive is working. Rip that game to the HDD and load it using usb loader gx. If it loads fine, then you know the drive can read and rip the game. Then we will have to think of something else it could be.
