Upgrading from 3.0U and Rockband problems

Hello everyone. I'm sorta new at modding wii's. I modded my wii several months ago, maybe in June or July and I havn't had any problems until now. My brother in law modded his wii at about the same time, bought a new game, installed a update from a real game, and bricked his system. My son got Lego rockband for Christmas and it wants to install an update. How do i get around this update?

My second question is, I have downloaded two rockband track packs and I can't get them to support the USB receivers for the drums and the guitars. On the real Rockband 2 game the blue LED's flash as the game loads, and while playing the game they are constant. When I try to play a backup of Rockband the LED's go off as soon as I use the backup loader and the game starts loading. I can see the game and I can use the wiimote to navigate through the game, I just don't have any support for any of the instruments.

I hope I don't look like a fool here, and may be an easy fix, but any help would be apperciated. I have found threads and fourms elsewhere on the internet, but you guys really seem to know what you are doing with this sort of thing. Thanks again!

For the Wii System Update. If your Wii is hacked, following Dogeggs' guide, then you should have Preloader/Priiloader installed. Hold Reset when you turn your Wii on, go to System Menu hacks and enable "Skip Disc Update Check" then you won't be prompted to update by a disc anymore.

For the USB troubles, you need to start the game using an alternate IOS. Presuming that you are playing by USB Loader or the like, you need to install Hermes' cIOS222/223. This link here will teach you how. (Credit to Stomp_442)

Thank you so much for such a fast reply. I will look for Dogeggs instructions. Sorry about all the threads. Everytime I tried to post it, I got a "time out" error.

    Thanks again!!!

Hmmn Dogeggs' guide is the first link in my sig, but you are on System Menu 3.0U yes? In that case Dogeggs' guide will not help you as much I don't think as it is for System Menu's 3.1-4.1... I've had no experience with a Wii under 3.2 sorry. Regardless, good luck : ) And if I've helped, do remember the Thanks button

Nope good news, I am currently on 3.3U! I will check Dogeggs out though.

Im not sure I understand what a USB Loader is though. The backup loader Im using is a channel called "Wii Backup Launcher". I have another channel called "Wii Backup Channel" I think it's Gamma 0.3 but it almost never works.

    That's definitely good news : )

As for what a USB Loader is, you just place the games onto a USB drive then play them off there : ) If you wanna learn more, again, guide's in my sig

That's awesome, thank you so much. I just got everything insstalled and updated successfully!! Thank God nothing crashed or bricked! I am now the proud owner of a 4.1 system firmware. I probably sound like an idiot, don't I?

I have seen the USB loader before and to be honest with you I was afraid to try it. I think I have a 200GB HDD I'm not using. Would this be large enough? I didn't really want to waste my time if I could only do like 2 or 3 games. Lord knows Nintendo should have really thought about putting a much larger HDD in the system. If nothing else they could have aloud the SD to support something larger than 2GB. My cell phone is like 2 years old and supports a 32GB SD micro! Sometimes I really dis-like Nintendo.

Also, I'm not real sure what a "sig" is. Now I bet I sound like an idiot, don't I?

Thanks again for all your help!!

I'm sorry. When I wrote that first post about not knowing what a USB Loader was I was thinking about something different. I knew about software that would let you play games from an external HDD but I didnt make the connection I guess.

"Sig" means signature, as in what's under that line after my post, starts off "4.1E".

Anywho, a 200GB hard drive is large enough to store many games. Most games rest around 2-3GB large, some as small as 100MB (Wii Play PAL). Check out this list here first to see if the HDD you have available is compatible with USB Loaders, and if they are, see the guide in my signature for more, but feel free to PM me if you feel the need.

Also, this list compiled by Wiiholio et al tells you the size of the majority of *decent* Wii games available. Feel free to contact me for any more assistance if needed. : )

Hey again. I managed to get Hermes installed, (I think). I am now trying to get the Configurable USB Loader installed and it appears to be a nightmare. I have read through the forum several times, and it really doesn't make any sence to me. I wonder if my brain has just gone to mush after reading all these things. I found Stomp 442 forum and I am having a real hard time "getting it". I was wondering if you could please help make sence of it all.

Also I have been trying to find a good site for downloading. Do you know of any? I have heard that bitgamers is a good one but now one seems to know how to get in.

    Thanks again
