Us Getting errors trying to install cios38 Rev 14

Alright so I tried putting the .wad in my root directory of the card, but that didnt work as the boot.dol file I have in there wants to run the whole old softmod I currently have. So I move the .wad to the wad folder and trying installing it off of wad manager. Everything looks good but when it is installing the files, I get a couple of errors, the most frequent being -01/-1. I have gotten a -1071 error and a -2012 error but those are usually after failing to install and I try again. Am I doing something wrong here? Should I just revert back to a virgin wii and try again from scratch? Do I need to install the Gecko OS? Kind of new to this whole advanced hacking steps. Thanks.

Use a different SD card or wipe the contents from the SD you are using. Wad must go to root. Use network installation method if you have trouble. if you still have 2011/1017 errors then you need to TBR.

You do not need to revert your Wii to anything for goodness sake. Why are people so quick to take the high risk of bricking by reverting their Wiis to virigin over a silly error like that? The Wii is not a PC.

Alright I can give that a try and back up my files and do from the root. But if I do that and just have the Cios wad on there, can I still go through the wad manager and install it? Ill give it a go. I don't want to revert if I do not have to especially since I have it setup pretty nice. Thanks man.

EDIT: also I do not have an option for network installation that I am aware of on my Wii.

The wad included sometimes with the cIOS installer is actually a standard IOS38, the installer itself modifies it to make it the cIOS249. The network installation method downloads the file from NUS. Clever really.

If you could get hold of a cIOS38.wad, one which has been ripped from someone's NAND then you could install it with wad manager. Make sure you know what you are installing though.

well let me see if I can find a network installer to put on my Wii then. otherwise, I don;t know enough about the Wii to do this like I should and it should be easy, even for me, but it isn;t. I do appreciate the help you have been giving me though.

Alright tried a new card properly formatted, went through wad manager, got error -1 and no wads showed up. I think I am over complicating this. Should I do a search for the internet downloader program thing? This is giving me more headaches than it should and starting to anger me.
