Installing D2CPro9 Chip with Wii Clip

i just received my D2CPro9 Chip with Wii Clip in the mail. It came with no instructions and with an extra ribbon cable. I wrote the fllowing e-mail to CanadaMods:

"I just purchased a D2PRO9 with presoldered WiiClip v4C, and had a few quick questions about the installation process.

First, the chip arrived with GND, 3v3, CLK, and pins C-J soldered, but 5-9 and K-P unsoldered. Is this correct, or should all contacts be soldered?

Second, the chip came with a ribbon cable, but none of the guides I have found show this cable or how to use it. What is the cable for, and where do I connect it?

Finally, jumpers JP1 and JP2 are unconnected. Do I need to install either jumper?"

...can anyone answer any of those questions or offer any help? thanks

That is the correct setup for a d2c or d2c2 wii.

if you take a closer look at the unsoldered points 5-9 and K-P on the wii-clip..they actually go nowhere.

On the D2pro9.... there is no need to set any jumpers....the chip autoselects the region when you put in an original from your own region as the very 1st disc after install.

the ribbon cable is not needed at this time as most updates will be done by dvd...

there may be a time in the future that you need to hook up the ribbon cable to the chip and aN USB programmer for major reprogramming..

I've red form a PC magazine before that it is not really neccesary to have it. Even when to get a static shock will modding or repairing an electronics,it is unlikely that it could cause damage to the chips, but it there's no harm on being cautious.
