    I know if you region change 4.2K to 4.2U for example, you will permanently brick with 003 error. Do not change the region on a K unit if @ 4.2, period.

    I known about Wii Korean, if it changed to U, such as 4.0U, then accident update to 4.2U by wii system update. This is for sure.. it will be bricked #003.
    And the method of this topic in changing the region from 4.2K. It still be brick as well? This method not modifed IOS70? so, then the system menu 4.2U caused the #003 error, right? Ok.

    And 4.2K changed to 4.2E, is it okay? Anyone have tested?

    Korean wii + ios70-v6687 + SM 4.2u/e/j = error: 003 unauthorized device has been detected

    Change to 4.1u/e/j
    or
    patch ios60 to install as ios70-v (>6687)
    Ipsa scientia potestas est.

    (I've changed from 4.2J, bought from Taiwan on 13/04/2010, it comes with 4.2J and the wii remote+motion plus, bundle with Wii Sport Resort version)

    I follow the post at #1, it's okay.

    I use NUSD, run NUSD_v14Beta.exe from PC, loaded from "http://wiibrew.org/wiki/NUS_Downloader" or directly from "http://s.lukegb.com/nusdv14" to download :
    -Database... -> IOS -> IOS 15 -> v257 and select option Pack -> WAD, I got IOS15-64-v257.wad .
    -Database... -> IOS -> IOS 15 -> v523 and select option Pack -> WAD, I got IOS15-64-v523.wad .
    -Database... -> IOS -> IOS 36 -> v3351 and select option Pack -> WAD, I got IOS36-64-v3351.wad .
    -I copy all three wads to root of SD-Card, but I use download online from NUS -_-, so the above didn't used

    I use TBR version 1.11 from "http://gbatemp.net/index.php?showtopic=165453" or "directly from http://www.mediafire.com/?kzojozjmxtj"

    And finally I use Dop-IOS MOD v9 come from any wii-hacked package.

    It's works for me !! for my new wii machine.
    I've also use AnyTitleDeleter to delete all old thing that declare as a Japan, e.g., EULA, News Channel, Weather Channel, Region Select, Shop Channel.
    And use the WAD Manager (I used 1.5) to install all above that I've deleted.
    Next, I goto Wii Setting menu... to Read and Accept the Agreement for online. (no need to update---no need to downloading a EULA, becuase I manual install EULA WAD already). So, just read and Accept.
    And re-check for WiiConnect24 Menu to On. After this, I can use shop channel, news and weather channel in English language.

    Only thing is (and this happened when i upgraded to 4.2 from 3.2), the disc channel cannot read the disks, but neogamma reads them fine. If i start the console with a disc or put a disc in when not in neogamma, it says it cannot read the disc and i need to eject, switch off and refer to the manual.
    Anyone know what is causing this (the 4.2 upgrade i'm assuming as it was fine before)?
    I think the mod chip D2C of your wii is config (maybe solder) as Japanese Region. But, now you've change to U or E, right? I think you should open your wii and reconfig the jumper or solder it to be a E or U follow your new region, that's it

    Not any good at soldering so it's not worth the risk. I have read elsewhere that i need to install DarkCorp to get the disc channel to work.

    Is there any point having the mod chip in there still? If i cut all the wires will i muck something up?

    BigDavey,
    changing the region of modchips is just "short/open a few jumpers", no big deal with soldering works.
    rather than cutting all the wirings fm chip to dvd-rom. DarkCorp is compatible with the modchip retained (correct me, if wrong)

    Depend on you But, I've ever done it for my brother. Original was japanese setting for D2C key. For this D2C key version.. oh oh... many wires soldering, 20+ I think. (a new generations use only 6-9 wires)
    But, for changing the region it use only 2 solder pads. you may need a solder sucker tools to suck the lead out. Then you solder it again.. if you're lucky, you may need only one pad change. if you change to Euro as my brother.. I think you need to change 2 pads. (from japanese)
    I think the opening the cover until your find the solder-pad-region point is easier than you re-solder them. If you can open the will out.. I think, it's not hard for you The pad size is not too small to dealing with, when compare with the pin of chip on board.

    Lightbulb NAND back-up from another wii

    I know may be a few months behind. but i have 1 question. i previously modded my wii that has the 4.2u update. took some time and some serious java since im a nube at this but i used it as my guenie pig. my question is that when i modded the wii i mad a nand backup can i use that nand backup to just restore a wii that is not from my region so i can convert it to read US games. the wii im trying to convert is has the letters (AU) on the side instead of (US). and also their is no color, just black & white. any help will be appreciated.
