I set up my wifi the other day for my new router, the very same update message came up, I clicked No but my internet works no problem. I am not on 4.2 though, maybe that's another change they made.
I have a wii with system menu 4.2u. I just soft modded it and can play games off a usb hard drive. My only concern are future system updates. How can I prevent them? I've been reading a lot in many different places but haven't quite found the answer.
Also, I can't get the internet to work. When I check the connection it says "the connection test was successful. perform a wii system update now? wii support code:61212" I choose no just because I don't want to mess anything up. Will everything remain intact if I chose "yes?" Any help is appreciated.

Thanks for your input, but I actually figured out the internet part. Since I had recently formatted the wii, I had to click on "user agreements" under the internet menu and I had to agree to use the wii shop channel and wiiconnect24. After I did that, I've had no problems with the internet.
I just bought my first Wii. It was version 3.4 and I upgraded to 4.2u with the system update.
i know i should not have updated, but it is done.
can you please get me links as to how soft modding the updated 4.2u.
i would like to play games of the external hard drive and burned discs.
your help would be greatly appreciated.
Welcome to the forum. Since you piggybacked another post, a proper greeter may or may not come along.Originally Posted by TRAMMELSTRACE [Only Registered Members May View Links| Click here to register]

To modify your Wii, check out the 2nd link in my signature below.
If your Wii is brand new from a store, it most likely has the drive which can't load backup discs. View the third link for additional information about loading games from a usb drive.

The link in Ithian's signature is the same guide I used. Just be sure to read it carefully a few times before attempting anything.
