I am trying to do the softmod from here:

When I insert the SD card, and try to open it, it freezes the Wii. If I then try to format the card, and then load the SD card again (with no data on the card), it does not freeze.
It is a 4 GB Sandisk SDHC.
What is up with this?

Have you tried the format as suggested in the guide, or do you have a standard SD card.

What system menu are you on ?
When 4.0 came out they added SDhc support.
And I would use a regular SD card instead of sdhc because bootmii and preloader both are picky about what sd cards you use.
Wii 4.1U

I was being a moron trying to boot the SD from the SD card logo in the main menu, even though I already KNEW and had seen it in videos etc. to boot it from data management -> channels...
Damn, everything else in studying the softmod has got my brain in a tight knot and I didn't think about something so simple ;D

im having the problem where the wii freezes when you click on the sd card, i went the right way, through data management, channels, and ive tried two sd cards (2gb ones, not sdhc)
help!!!!
