Games thar brick Wiis

I've been reading a lot about people bricking their Wiis with foreign games. However, I've only read about first-party games with firmware updates. Do third-party games carry those same updates? And if the game is older than my current firmware version (I've never updated mine yet, but it's a newish d2c model) am I at risk too or is it just newly released games?

I don't understand the whole playing different region games thing...If you stick to games of the same region as your wii you will never have a problem with your chip. I just stick to whats safe so I don't have to worry about it, but that's just my point of view.....

Yes, I tend to stick to that too. However, sometimes I can't find certain NTSC games, and I'm tempted to try PAL versions.

Enough said. Just play your region games. At this point in time I'm more worried about online play and modchip detection.

Cool. I'm not. In any case, does it hurt to know whether thiird-party games carry updates?

I rather take the safe route and play my own region games...rather than doing any direct converts or stopping updates
