Unable to access Weather, Vote, etc. channels after softmod to 4.2u
Well, I softmodded 4.2u without a hitch. Playing off an HDD, etc. just fine. Also, the Shopping Channel and Homebrew Browser are working okay.
Problem is with the Weather, News, Everbody Votes, Nintendo and other channels - they say since WiiConnect24 isn't turned on, they can't access the internet to get their info.
It was suggested that I download the most recent Shopping Channel WAD and install it. I did that and it works fine, but the Shopping Channel worked okay to start with. The other channels still won't connect unless WiiConnect24 is on.
I really like the Everybody Votes and Weather channels and want to use them but don't appear to be able to under 4.2u due to WiiConnect24 having to be off to avoid automated system updates.
I've also seen others, not with 4.2u, say those channels work fine for them, regardless of the WiiConnect24 status.
So, I'm wondering if I missed something - did I not install something properly, etc. - or is this just a 4.2u "bug" that will be worked out in time.

I get the same problems, but rarely.
Try TURNING WiiConnect24 ON.
That would allow a system update, tho.

Can anyone assist here? I miss "Everybody Votes."
You could maybe just turn it back on but refuse any updates from happening?
I'm sure I read on another thread that ALL updates are dependant on being accepted by the user so as long as you don't say okay, you should be fine.

Reason: Spelling mistake.
3.2E Softmod, Wiiflow V1.1 USB Loader, WD 320GB Passport WBFS 3.0 Formatted
what about making sure all the ios are up to date?
first turn off any changes made with any other preloaders then Install StartPatch and configure it to the following specifications
"disable region checks" ( install all 5 or it wont work and install them in order)
"disable HAXX, DVDX, RZDX Checks"
"Block disk updates"
"block online updates"
"remove NoCopy Protection" (install all 5 in order)
"recovery mode 4th GC Dpad up"
then "save" and select yes or ok (whatever it says)
You can uninstall the changes at any time by going back to each choice and pressing B instead of A (and again you must save to finalize the changes)
get StartPatch here : StartPatch - WiiBrew
once your done you can safely turn on and leave wiiconnect 24 on
