Asking the community - What's the best setup??

    Hello everybody!

Ok so before you read this whole thing I want to say right up front that I am looking for a well thought out and well constructed answer with logical reasoning behind it. One sentence / word replies need not respond. Having said that I am sorry if I seem abrupt but I need a real answer and many people just want to be children about everything when they reply to a serious inquiry.

Now if you're still with me here is my situation. For some time now I have been running my Wii homebrew with Firmware 3.2 (Recently upgraded to 3.4 from a bricking issue) I have IOS60 v24.30 and Homebrew Channel 1.0.6. Most everything I try to load will work however I find more and more that newer games are causing issues on loading. For example Call of Duty: World at Was gives a disc read error. Rockband Beatles and Rockband 2 will load but won't load the guitar and drums. And as we are all aware now New Super Mario Bros is just not working as of today on DVD softmod.

So the big question becomes, is it time to change my setup? should I upgrade my Firmware or IOS? My big problem is I don't really know much about what an IOS does. Then there is cIOS with rev14 and rev15 and so on. It seems like there is a big puzzle out there that I can't figure out how to put together.

So if somebody could tell me. What would you recommend I use to play most (if not all) my DVD backups. What is a IOS and cIOS and which should I use? Should I upgrade it regularly or wait? Do only certain IOS and CIS play certain games? if so can I switch between easily to play multiple games? Anything you can add to this would help. Thank you in advance for your reply's.

I think the best set up is USB Loader, no more burning discs or reburning discs, no read errors, no wear on the Wii DVD drive. I can't believe that people still load from disc.

I concur, a lot less issues running everything through usb, also cheeper since kids can't wreck disks anymore

The only game I have out of 150 games that will not work on USB HDD is Splinter Cell Double Agent, that one is so old nobody cares. Needless to say, all my hard drive backups work fine, my Wii firmware is 3.2U, and I am happy. All my GH and RB games work fine GH3, GH5, GH Van Halen, GH Aerosmith, GH World Tour, GH Smash Hits, GH Metallica, Band Hero, RB 2, RB Beatles, Lego RB, and the guitars and microphone are recognized. NSMB works fine, downloaded the patched version and installed it, played without issues. Stick with cIOS38 rev14 for now until more is known about rev15, I'm using cIOS rev15 with Configurable USB Loader now, haven't noticed any issues yet. WiiPower, lol, says that he will not reconfigure NeoGamma to support cIOS38 rev15, maybe it's Waninkoko's responsibility to make the cIOS compatible with every backup loader out there. I see ppl having to install a few IOS's to get new games working from disc or some games not even working from disc. Since I did the TP hack, the only IOS's I have installed are 38, 53, 55, when I first hacked my system (7 months ago), and IOS202 for Mplayer and IOS222 for GH and RB games. No softchip or cIOScorp needed here and all games work.
Softmod USB HDD is the way to go.
