So I am completely new at this and I am having the hardest time following the directions. Everyone acts like everyone else knows what to do. If someone could please help me I would appreciate it. So I have rev 773 for usb loader gx and I know it is way out of date so I am trying to update it manually and someone said that wasn't possible without a new wad. If someone could either tell me how to get a new wad or how to work the gx forwarder that would be great. I have both dols for the r850 and the gx forwarder but what exactly do I do with them. I place the r850 in the apps/gx folder but as someone else said it didn't update. Do I need to do anything to the sd/wad folder that still has the r773? Where do I place the gx forwarder.dol and do I need to rename it?

    I appreciate any help. Thanks,

Well the thing is that we do know what to do through reading, really softmodding is not something you should just do.

However we need to know whether you installed as a channel or just as a forwarder channel.

The best way is to uninstall whatever wad you installed through wad manager.

Once you have done that, get a forwarder channel for USBloader.gx (this will be a wad you can find around the place) and will install a channel that loads usbloader from your SD card.

You can then download a new revision from the usb loader google code site. they are named "rxxx.dol" where "xxx" is the version number.

You then place this on your SD card under SD:\\apps\usb-loader

also edit the rev.txt or might be version.txt and change to the number that you installed.

Thats it, you have updated it

I have placed the r850 in the sd/apps/usb loaders file but do I need to place a "usb loader gx r850.wad" in the sd/wad folder because when I go to load a new rev all it pulls up is the old usb loader gx r773.wad". I have been reading through posts for probably 4 hours now, testing and retesting but no one goes far enough to say exactly what needs done and where it needs to be placed. I am very new to homebrew but interested in learning it. I do not have a forwarder loaded yet because I do not know exactly how and where to place the GX Forwarder .dol file after extracting it. Someone said just place it under sd/gx forwarder .dol.

No the wad is a file you use to install a channel.

It sounds to me like you installed the USB Loader as a channel rather than a forwarder.

Reverse these steps, because upgrading is easier if you install just the forwarder channel.

Once you have it installed as an forwarder then you can use the steps I provided.

You can get the forwarder from
    Forwarders (USB Loader GX)

You should uninstall the other channel first.

However it doesn't sound like you are that confident, who helped you hack the wii in the first place, it may be worth getting their help

I hacked it by trial and error and forums. So I should uninstall usb loader gx first and then reinstall the usb loader forwarder. I install it by placing the forwarder file where? Its not showing up under the wad manager right now.

I downloaded and unzipped this file.
    USB_Loader_GX-UNEO_Forwarder_16.06.09.rar
So after I uninstall usb loader channel I use this to reinstall it? Where do I place the revision file? Also looking through the app folder I do not see the wad manager under there any more. Do I just take the existing one I have place it in there?
    Thanks
