Can't play some newer games, issues installing new IOS

I haven't updated files on my Wii in quite some and am having trouble updating. I successfully got firmware 4.1u on there, and supposedly cIOS38 rev14, but I still can't run 1 game I'm trying at the moment, which is "Dead Space - Extraction", it just gives me that same error #002 (or whatever, with the blue screen). As well, when I try to go into the gamma loader and change the settings, the Wiimote doesn't even connect! I had to hard restart and mess around some more.

Also, I tried that "Pimp my Wii" program, which WAS doing ok at first, but then kind of just stopped around the code dumping part, also forced to hard restart (which didn't hurt my Wii thankfully).

Any basic checks I can do? Some IOS files I may be missing? (reminder, when I did updating last it was at LEAST 6 months ago, I was still on 4.0u custom when it was new too)

Update your loader and enable the error 002 fix.

Where do I get that? I think i just installed the neogamma r8 (or similarly titled) backup loader via WAD.

It's just hard for me to find these things since there's no strict "downloads" section in this site so I have to peruse the forums.

That is the newest, you will need to be able to enter the setting- not sure about your wiimote. Try loading neogamma from HBC just to see if it is working there. Neogamma R8 beta10

If you have cIOS38rev14, just got NeoGammaR8, then maybe an update of a few IOSes might be in order. Most games use IOSes 38, 53, and 55. For example: Dead Space Extraction uses IOS 53-64-v4113. You can use NUS downloader and get it from the Nintendo servers. Or download from here and see if these versions are new enough as I can't recall the version numbers: IOS38-53-55.rar.

If possible, try not to depend on Pimp My Wii-it's caused a few problems; I'd avoid it if possible.

Thanks guys, the gamma loader through the HBC worked out just fine. Never saw an option for a 002 fix though.

Now I just need to try out this "wadder" thing I heard about and maybe turn this into a wad/channel, unless I find it here (I just like saving the time).

NeoGammaR7 and I guess R8 incorporated the 002 fix automatically so there is no menu setting mode needed.
