cpt apples

i've searched the forums the best i can and can't find a strait out answer, my wii is on 4.1u softmodded and i'm using neogamma r7 with my games on a verbatim external usb, all games seem to work fine except smash bros. brawl which gives me the error after beating the first fight in subspace emmisary, and master hand in classic mode. i tried gx usb loader, same problem, i noticed i had hermes 222 installer in the package i used to mod my wii so i installed 222, then tried gx usb loader, and the game just went to a black screen and didn't load, went back into hermes 222 installer and installed 223... which i'm guessing was a bad idea as gx usb loader will no longer start... neogamma still works though, so what i'm wondering is, is there a way to play smash bros. brawl with neogamma r7? or was gx loader my only option.. and did i screw it up?
