I have a 4.2 E wii softmodded with the guide on ness, and ios70 patched (my wiiware games wasn't loading from sd) and i also installed cios 222/223.
I wanted to know if I can safely installl preloader (so many scary post about it XD) and how..I have seen the topic but is not very helping foer the installation process, I have read I need to copy paste the hacks for my version and so on..
So if anyone can be so gentle to post a little guide about installing preloader I will be very thankfull
PS I've seen 2 version of preloader 0.30 and another...differences?
The following are really optional and not needed to play backups. Also mind that incorrect use of them might brick you!! so use with caution!!
D6) You can also now run DOP-IOS MOD v7 to DOP ioses you want dopped (Not really necessary, dop ios70 if wiiware does not run, ios36 if you want startpatch hacks installed):
From HBC run DOP-IOS MOD. At the ios select screen, default should be 60, change it to 249
Next screen, select IOSs option.
Then select the ios you want to DOP.
Warning do not do this if you have preloader isntalled*
After that, you can also DOP ios36
select ios36 and press A on all three options to enable hacks on it. *Doing this may flip HBC upside down. I think this was corrected on HBC v 1.0.6, if not run DOP ios again and install it without the hacking options by pressing B* Mind that you will need an internet connection for this!! If you do not have an internet connection, see appendix.
D7)After that you can install Startpatch hacks or preloader
Before preloader, you must install this [Only Registered Users Can See Links. Click Here To Register] unrar in the wad folder in your SD card and install with wadmanager, using ios249. must be done before prloader is installed
Preloader has a new working version. get it [Only Registered Users Can See Links. Click Here To Register]. It is highly recommended that you install it, especially if you want to mess around with your wii, it is currently the main means of brick protection for non boot 2 boootmii users. You will need to do step D6 prior to installing this!

For preloader install which ios do I need dopped? I try to load the preloader installer and get and error message
1) After installing Homebrew Channel, Rename the tbrboot.dol on your sd card to boot.dol and load the Channel and press home and load bootmii, this will load Trucha Bug Restorer, press B to choose No IOS Reload. Go to Downgrade IOS15 and press A to downgrade. Everytime it says "Load IOS from SD Card" press A on the wiimote.
b) Load BootMii Again (if bootmii doesn't work, attempt from homebrew), run Trucha Bug Restorer and choose IOS15 and press A. Choose IOS36 Menu. In there use these settings:
Install IOS to slot (36)
Hash Check (trucha) Yes
ES_Identify Yes
NAND Permissions Yes
Then Press A on Install Patched IOS36. Again Press A when it says "load IOS from SD Card"
c) Again, re-run Trucha Bug Restorer from bootmii and choose IOS36 and press A. Then choose restore IOS15. Again, when it says "Load IOS from SD Card, Press A.
I am having the same problem as Dida86 and Eleventhtoe...
dopped the files, installed the new ios70, didn't work. Then found this thread, so tried the Bug restorer thing mentioned above, that caused some progress, when I try to install preloader now, I get the error:

This is a 4.2E system with messies guide to softmod used on it. Everything works as a charm, I just wish I had the added security of preloader... cos I am a bit of a noob. Trying to update with preloader 0.30r4.

Solved my own problem. installed preloader 0.29, then updated it to 0.30 with the installer (since auto update didn't work.)
