    Avoiding disc update?

Is there a way to play the games from the disc channel without updating? I'm on 3.2U (have HBC) and I got a new copy of Mario Kart Wii and it wants me to update. The way I have been playing it for the past few days was to load it in Gecko OS, but thats getting annoying to have to do that.

So is the like an IOS I need to install/update or somthing? Thanks!

you should have options in your modchips menu to disable updates.

You could also use preoloader to disable updates.

Or you can use any sort of backup loader.

If you have preloader, load it by holding the reset button while turning on your wii and select system hacks, then turn on skip disc update checking.

Does that setting with preloader work the exact same way as starfall? I know if starfall I can take an original copy game that requires a disc update and load it using neogamma and it will bypass that update BUT if I load it using the disc channel, it will give the black screen freeze. Just wanted to know just incase he loads a game that way and freaks out.

Both Starfall and Preloader allow you to block disc updates and if a disc needs an IOS it will give you the black screen but however, Preloader is much more easier to use than starfall if you were to get bricked from a bad wad.

What are the differences between starfall and preloader? Basically the only thing I use starfall for is to bypass disc updates and the no "health screen warning". Basically what does preloader have to offer that starfall doesnt have?

brick protection, lots of hacks (region/menu/startup etc). direct access to HBC, ability to boot dol files directly.

Like davepm said. Preloader has what i would call, more reliable brick protection. Where as in starfall, you would have to have the twilight hack saved on your wii and have a gc controller to boot twilight princess and hope it loads homebrew, in Preloader you just need to hold the reset button, load homebrew, fix problem, Done.
